Two questions about dynamic lighting and drawing

What is the meaning of "(Optional) Start of dim light" Setting the normal light radius to 20 feet, for example, and the dim light to 40 feet doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a way to erase a little pieces of what has been drawn, aside from CTRL+Z or selecting the whole thing hitting DEL, that is?

1: if you put the light at 50 ft and put 20 in the start dimness, you will have 20 ft of bright clear light then the dimness starts at the 20 ft mark and continues out to the end of your light of 50 ft. 2: due to it being vector based it is all or nothing.

DOH! The answer to the first totally explains everything, I had everything reversed, setting things as you suggest makes my torches work exactly as they are supposed to, thanks! The second explains a lot too but inspires a vague technical curiosity in me. Does Roll20 use SVG as part of the application?

I'm not sure but all I've been told is that the drawing tools (polylines) are vector based so that is the main reason for there being no eraser. I think the other drawing tools are vector based also. There are a few threads around talking about it.

Would you please point me to those threads? I'd be grateful!
