New player overwhelmed, looking for some guidance.

Hey All, I hope this is the proper place to post this, I couldn't really figure out of this was LFG or general but here it goes. I am trying to get into DnD but not exactly sure how, what edition, what version (pathfinder, shadow run, etc..) there are so many games to choose from and honestly, I am not exactly sure where to start. I guess I am either looking for a) a campaign that is a bit slow paced that would help guide a completely new player or b) the best recommendation of where I should go to seek more information. While googling, I see there is a plethora of knowledge and information out there and really, I have no idea where to start. I am starting sort of late in my life (27) and really don't know anyone who plays or has ever played in my area so I have no one but the internet to turn to haha. I get the generalities of the game but just need some direction on which is the best for a beginner to get into and maybe some videos or something that could help a guy understand a bit more. Anyways, sorry for the long winded post and I hope this was the appropriate place to post this. Thanks!
The different games will depend on how you want to play and what what system you want to use (d100, d20, d6). I like shadorun and i an trying to get one started for new people. Pm me if you want to know moor.

There are a wide variety of D&D editions that range anywhere from OD&D to D&D Next along with the various retroclones. The most common ones here are 3.5, pathfinder, and 4e. These are two sites that most people use to learn specific editions that are the most popular. 3.5 : http://www.d20srd.org/ Pathfinder: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ Both of those sites will supply you with enough info to learn about those two game systems but I would recommend you go find a game that catches your fancy in the LFG listings and have the gm help you. Remember you have to convince the GM that you would be a good fit and a dependable player for his game and that means you have to present yourself in the most favorable light as you can or as my speech teacher says "sell yourself".
