iPad app journal issues - server errors storm kings thunder

Hi, None of the text content in the storm kings thunder module is displaying in the journal section of the app. the app pops up with a server connection error, then goes away, but still no content. Server error only pop up with storm kings thunder module (I think the app can't handle loading this much data), but runs absolutely fine with other modules (phlandelver etc).  Please update app to fix this error, which could be done by staggering the amount of data it is trying to load into the journal, or having a manual refresh button, or allowing for there to be a manual local download button to store the data on the iPad locally. I have an iPad Air 2 running iOS 10.3.1 running the rol20 iPad app version 1.7.0. i like to use the iPad app to read all the journal entries of modules I buy on roll20. This helps me prepare for the game I am about to GM as well as allow me to read them easily, rather than needing to sit at a computer or laptop. I was an enthusiastic module purchaser, but this error is making me think twice about any future purchases.

Storm King's Thunder is a really massive module. What is likely happening on your ipad app is that it is timing out trying to pull up all the content from it all at once. As a paid subscriber, you have access to Table on Tablet support, which allows you to run the game fully on your tablet's web browser. I would recommend trying to see if loading the game works better via that method. When running through the browser, the game loads content on an as-needed basis rather than all at once as the ipad app. Another suggestion is to create a game using the Storm King's Thunder module on a non-tablet device like a computer or laptop (so you can launch the game without issue), and then delete all the content that you don't need in order to read/review the adventure text. Unless you need to review the character's NPC sheets, you could delete all the character entries and still have the entire adventure book sorted into handout form. The Character entries with all their sheet attributes are the largest resource hog of the module. Ideally, what would be best is if a GM could view all their Journal content within the External Journal on the Game Details Page without having to launch the game at all. Unfortunately, the folder structure in-app is yet to be implemented on the External Journal. This is something we definitely want to do as well as other game management quality of life resources, we just haven't the development resources to address them yet.
Thank you for your reply, all your suggestions are really practical ones. I just wish roll20 had more money to fix up the ipad app or look to VC with the aim to grow user base, it has such great potential as an added tool to use alongside a computer/laptop. I find it really broadens your product as a whole, and as a business strategy could really support the development and growth of your user sub base, or even "pay for app" potential. I'll try out your suggestions and secretly wish I had the VC to support roll20.
