Hey there, I'm Cameron and I figured I'd post something up here looking for something a little more out of the ordinary. I'm new to D&D, but I'm currently in a couple games that are relatively infrequent and am looking for some more action. While most campaigns tend to follow a general theme of doing good, adventuring, vanquishing evil, I feel it would be really interesting to play a different sort of story. Granted I know it can be supremely annoying when you've got a chaotic neutral/evil character who makes braindead, violent decisions, that's not quite what I'm suggesting. I really enjoy stories that are wrought with decisions that make it nigh impossible to follow a black or white route. More realistic scenarios where there are more grey areas, bringing out the dark in good characters and the redeeming qualities of evil characters. A setting where alignments don't really determine characters' actions in a set way, but rather only are loose ideas of their lives and morals up to that point. So my idea would be a group of adventurers who aren't bound by an unwritten "do good unto all" guideline and situations where you're almost always up against evil creatures, evil bandits, or evil leaders and their underlings that somewhat rule the majority of campaigns. Instead, a setting where the party may deal with darker goals, taking on espionage or assassination missions, possibly even serving evil gods and following their grand motives. That isn't to say this would be a "black" party in the concept of black and white morality; this would be a group who may have characters with redeeming qualities, doubts to their actions, varying personal motives and vendettas, etc. While party conflict can be a very interesting concept in any campaign, it could be even more colorful in a group with much more devious and violent tendencies. A good minor example would be an old module I came across called For Duty & Deity, which involved rescuing the goddess Waukeen who suffered at the hands of Graz'zt's followers. Now if something like that module was flipped on its head, and suddenly the party were indeed following the will of Demon Lord Graz'zt and put at odds with Waukeen's would-be saviors, that would be a really interesting experience I think. Something where there's an actual grand purpose to things, as opposed to a bunch of shady douchebags running around robbing and killing whoever they want. Anyways, I've rambled on long enough. I'm just curious if anyone is interested in this sort of campaign. I'm not comfortable enough with spoken roleplay settings to DM myself, so I would just be a player in this sort of thing, but I'd be really interested in talking about it with anyone who's interested, possibly building a setting and whatnot together, finding a DM, etc. Post here if you're interested!
