Older experienced gamer looking to get back into the scene

Hey all!I'm Darr_Syn, or Andy if you'd rather. I'm a gamer from way back. I played my first pen and paper RPG back in the mid 80s. I cut my teeth on 2nd ed D&D and played in the pools of Shadowrun, White Wolf and more. My first love has always been the fantasy settings of D&D though. After a while life got in the way of the two plus decade group I used to run with and I drifted away from the game as "real life" tended to take over. Thankfully I'm in a place once again to spend some time gaming! The issue is that I'm currently a thousand miles from my old gaming groups and there's not a really good starting place for a 40 year old in my local scene. So what I'm looking for is a game to get into. This will be my first online p-n-p but since I'm a techie at heart I don't see it as anything more than a learning curve. The type of game I'm wanting? I've been studying up on 5th ed but I'm willing to be persuaded to play others as needed. I like games that are FUN but challenging, not too serious (I hate rule lawyering spats) but more than a series of puns and fart jokes. I'd love a group that plays two or more times a month, I can make once a week work if the time works. I'm not looking for a paid game though, it's not for me but I don't have an issue with those that enjoy it. But if you have a place for an experienced gamer that wants to have fun and catch the new wave of game, send me a PM or respond here. Thanks!
I think you and I are two peas in a pod Sir. I have been hoping to find a Sunday group that meets on Sundays somewhere around 12 to 5 EST.
Hi Andy, I'm in a similar situation to yours in that my old gaming group is scattered across the world and locally, everyone prefers one-shots to campaigns. I'm gearing up a couple of concurrent, shared world campaigns that should be a lot of fun with the right group. They are planned for Sun and Tues at 7pm EDT. You can find the details here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/88765/chaos-and... https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/88768/order-and... Stephen I've added an application to the Sunday game and wouldn't mind being considered for the Chaos version if it were on a day I could play. Thanks for thinking about me!
although it isn't D&D i am running a Post-Apocalypse campaign, it runs very similar to D&D 3e. Only race is human though, and there are campaign specific classes. if your familiar with Modern or Future D20 they will be familiar. if your interested the game time is Sunday at 7pm mountain time ( MST).
Discord: Cheeseki#0002 Sessions Friday 8pm Central lasting until group is tired, Fantasy Game, Homebrew Friendly PM for more info if interested =)
