SolidHybrid said: Silk said: what level are we starting for this campaign? I think level one. I'm down to two character ideas: Dwarf Cleric of Moradin OR Human Cleric of Mystra. Both look to be pretty strong. I think Level One too --- but with a more "EPIC" pulpy archetype, compared to the previous campaign (Adventures In A Homebrew world, which had a theme of "start small and don't foresee a long-term character build; find out in-game how your character will grow".) This campaign (Song World) is to have an Epic, Pulpy, extraplaner / Planescape / Planes-hopping, Cross-Genre, Crossover, also Spelljammer and Swashbuckling around the universe, kind of feeling. Epic in an almost exaggerated sense like EP1C11111!! Think of things like Conan The Barbarian, Red Sonja, Star Trek, Buck Rodgers, John Carter Of Mars, War Of The Worlds, Jason & The Argonauts, Dragonlance Chronicles & Legends, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Gandalf, Indiana Jones.... and probably there are even more examples from the comedy-fantasy genres, I just don't tend to think of a lot of comedy titles. Maybe some Pirates Of The Caribbean, parts of Princess Bride. Maybe an archetype like someone from WWF, the World Wrestling Federation. This campaign is more like you are playing Gandalf and Thorin in the start of "Fellowship Of The Ring", less like Bilbo and Samwise even at their most-epic ending Book 3, "Return Of The King" much-less the timid Bilbo in the start of Fellowship. You are playing "Someone (TM)".... Not a nobody who happens to rise up. You should be able to picture your character as being able to Fly potentially rather often... being able to Jump like in Kung-Fu movies especially if you have Jumping Proficiency.... just picture yourself being Epic at whatever your character does. If you have Cooking NWP then you can be the Gordon Ramsay of D&D and shout at everyone while making delicious dishes behind your back & blindfolded, while carrying on in a battle. You can make up backstory things in this like, you are playing, The daughter of a King.... The strongest villager from the Mongoll Nation...In fact every PC should be the something-est of all time. The bravest, the dumbest, the wisest, the weirdest, the ugliest, the nicest, the meanest, etc. The first dwarf born with wings (using Pixie stats)..... An underwater race who happens to have an Air Respirator.... An ancient Lich who was cursed to go backwards in Age and is now a teenager-human with lichy dreams.... The human demigod-to-be offspring of Zeus impregnating a Prime Material species... (Zeus x a Halfing; Zeus x a Lizardfolk, etc)... A fortune-teller or paratrooper or engineer or security guard from Modern Earth who was accidentally teleported to the D&D Song World.... A Necromancer who is intent on finding the River Styx..... a Human who was bitten by a radioactive spide...Scorpion.... and now has some of the body/powers of a spide...Scorpion. Does this make sense and give you ideas?
