Introduce Yourself (Player, GM, or both; time zone)

Hello, I am player and a GM, but not confident enough to run FATE yet. I run D&D 5e for friends and family and another game using GURPS. I love world building and character building. I have played and run all manner of games, from All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Traveller, Cyberpunk, Dark Conspiracy, Star Frontiers, Albedo, 7th Sea, ConspiracyX, Deadlands, Mechwarrior, GURPS (supers, fantasy, modern day, sci-fi/space), Heavy Gear, In Nomine, Jovian Chronicles, Palladium (fantasy, Robotech, Rifts, etc), Star Wars, Twilight2000/Merc2000, The Morrow Project, Vampire/Werewolf/Mage/etc, and Tribe8. I am looking to play FATE, I am available 9 EST (GMT -4/-5) on Thursdays and potentially some Saturdays/Sundays. LDJ
Hey all, Liam here. Jut moved to Hong Kong. (GMT +8). Have played a couple of games of FAE (Jadepunk to be specific) so I'm not a totally new player. Still learning things of course. My weekends are a little weird (Thursdays and Fridays off but I'm fairly free most evenings. Would like to GM some day but am nowhere near ready for that yet. Genres: Hard to know what I'd enjoy as I have so little experience playing the game, but a game with an opportunity to delve into character development sounds like my sort of thing. Thanks for the invite.

Hello! I'm newly joined from Sweden, so timezone is CEST (GMT+1 summer, GMT+2 winter). I'm interested in exploring some Fate and FAE as a player. Although I prefer fantasy settings, I'm currently trying to create a Fate Star Wars game for my home game using Bulldogs! , so I'm particularly interested in similar games or projects. Happy gaming!
Hello I'm Evan from Eastern Time (GMT -4/-5), Free most days of the week after 5:30pm and earlier on the weekend. Giant dump of systems I've played or GMed: BESM, Call of Cthulhu (7e), Death Watch, Don't Rest Your Heard, D&D (3.5, 5), FATE (Core, Atomic Robo, Dresden Files), FAE (DFA), KAMB, L5R (3e), Lady Blackbird, Numenera, Paranoia, Pathfinder, Star Wars (FF). Of all these FATE & FAE have been my favorites to run and to play, mostly with the Dresden Files rulesets. While I do want to eventually GM, until I have more experience with RollD20 its probably best if I stick with being a player. Not really any preferences for genre or setting as long as everyone has fun playing. Horrible with writing dialogue but capable of making memorable characters anyways.
Hello, I'm Kenneth from EST, generally I'm free on the weekends (preferably anytime after 2pm), though if it's after 7pm and doesn't run too long I can make it work. I've played mostly FAE and FATE in the flesh, but mostly as a GM so I'd like to be a player as well. However, this is not to say I'm not interested in running games on roll20, just need to get used to this interface. When I get around to running I'm interested in running some Master of Umdaar, Aether Sea, and something "Mecha" based.
Hey, everyone Role:Player Can play onTuesday basically all day or early or late night Wednesday MST(can't play on Wednesday be 4:30-10:30 due to another game) My name is Casey and i have been playing games like DnD and Pathfinder for like 3 years now but i have been reading the books since i was 20. My only experience with Fate has been reading the book due to fact that at the time i was reading it no one I knew was interested in trying it out since they prefered DnD/Pathfinder...I'm in some parts sadly no longer apart of that group but i figured this would be a good time to try and find a group for Fate so i can give it a whirl. I'm still new to the system I will have much to learn since reading the book can only teach you so much. I prefer Steampunk or sci-fi but I'm also would be open to try anything
Hi, I'm Matt. Time Zone: Gulf My schedule is hectic. :( I'm new to Fates, but have played D&D 3.5 and 5e. I'm an old man (30+) who is a little late in the tabletop world, but I'm willing to roleplay my heart out! Player only for now. Genre: open to anything that has a good hook
Hello everyone my name is Rebecca, Ive been playing tabletop rpgs for about 17 years now. Ive never played fate, but lived watched online games and have both the core and accelerated books. At the moment I'm just looking to playoff the moment and am based in the UK so around GMT/BST, best times are fri/sat/sun eve happy to play both one offs and longer campaigns.
Hi, I recently discovered fate core, and I love the system. I just started my first game IRL. I've read the fayre core book. I'm a player, tho I might be interested in GMing down the road. I prefer medieval high fantasy settings. I live in the EST time zone. thanks Beth

Hi My names Matt I've recently discovered the system and once I've played some I'd like to GM it. I'm interested in playing a fantasy game, and maybe a Superhero game at some point Edit Forgot to add my time zone, I'm based in the UK so will either be GMT or BST depending on the time of the year
Hey, everyone! I'm Savvy. I'm ET, currently available Tuesday and Thursday evenings and many Saturdays. I'm new to Fate, looking to learn as a player but evolve into a DM. While this system is new to me, RPGs are not. I have been gaming in multiple systems for 35 years, and actually playtested several GURPS modules. I currently run 5e for a large group of teenagers and play in several online 5e games. I'm also a professional writer, so have a lot of experience with wood smithin. I'm actually looking for a group who are open to multiple systems, including Fate (although not all at once!) and is serious about gaming but not uptight. I look forward to getting to know you folks!
Jim Player, GM maaaaybe PST Work early, can usually play after 4:30 pm Pacific, plus weekends. I've read FATE Core over and over again, but never played. I created a fantasy scenario that violates all the rules, defining skills and aspects for Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, etc. and I loved making it. My friends didn't want to play it however, cuz FATE isn't crunchy enough. Whatever. Roleplaying is about narrative, not rules mongering! Anyway, hopefully someday I'll be able to play this system.
Sketh Player and GM EST Right now I am available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, maybe Thurs during the day. I have been a big fan of FATE in various forms, unfortunately I have had little opportunity to play or run. I enjoy combat and exploration. Tend to play magic users. As both a GM and a player I prefer the unusual.

Hi Matt and all, I am mainly a GM, but occasional player. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone. I have a fair (Average +0) amount of experience with FATE Core and Fate Accelerated. Being a rules lite kinda guy and having children, I am convinced that Fate Accelerated has all the crunch most people need to enjoy this fascinating system. That being said, I love both renditions of FATE. I am old: 50 . I first started playing D&D out of boxed set with my brother when I was ten years old. I'm a big fan of science-fiction. I also love Old West stories because I'm a cranky old man who can identify with the protagonists most of the time. ;-) I can enjoy fantasy stories/games and even tell them well. But they must have a really good hooks with well developed character that really draw me in. I'm new to Roll20, so I'm not sure how the site works yet. I see most players on here mention the times they are available. I assume there is some way to interface for a live internet game. I am open to that and it probably works better than Play-By-Post. I have far more experience with PbPs. The main problem with PbP games is the attrition rate is rather high. Some players loose interest in the game quickly if it's not face to face, somehow. James
Hey James, I'm 50 as well! Started with the D&D blue box. I'm not as much a fan of westerns, except for Cormac Mccarthy. I've only ever done face-to-face gaming. So, almost none at all the last 20-30 years. Welcome to the group. I'm a newb myself. :)

Hello James, Roll20 has an online “tabletop” for maps, tokens (aka miniatures) and note space. It also has a chat client as well as video and audio client. Most folks use either the audio on Roll20, or other audio clients like Discord or Skype. For video/audio, many use Roll20 and some use Google Hangouts (but that seems to be less common since the app for Roll20 stopped being supported). There are other video/audio clients out there. I highly recommend that you check out the Roll20 tutorials to learn more. /Matt

+Derek, 36 +Almost always a player. +Eastern / UTC-4 +I have very little experience with Fate, but I've been playing RPGs in general since about 2000. 1995 if you count the solo adventure in the GURPS 3e Revised book. D&D/PF, GURPS 4e, Savage Worlds, Fantasy Craft, Apocalypse World and some other PbtA stuff, and lots of one-shots mostly of smaller press stuff at conventions. I really like to learn new systems. +My all-time favorite genres are urban fantasy and street level supers(lots of overlap there). Things like East Texas University, Urban Shadows, Unknown Armies, and certain Fate worlds like SLIP and Straw Boss. Another Fate World I'm interested in is Masters of Umdarr, which is more of a science-fantasy thing that sounds kind of like a cross between He-Man and Pirates of Dark Water. I also like more traditional fantasy, but don't want to play D&D/PF again because I just don't care for the system. I like some cyberpunk stuff, post-apocalyptic stuff, and spacefaring sci-fi reminiscent of the Dark Matter TV show, though I'm pickier in those genres. I like watching them, but for gaming it really comes down to the specific setting and/or game pitch. +I don't have just one kind of character I like to play, but I do have one character I've been wanting to use in an urban fantasy or street level supers game. A psychic detective who specializes in psychometry and uses it to help gather information. If it was a setting where code names are appropriate, his would be Mr. Sensitive. He might also have other powers like mind-reading and telekinesis, but that would depend on the game's power level and/or if the campaign lasted long enough to develop them. +I have a thread in the main LFG forums. It's here, but most of what's listed isn't Fate, so I'll let this be my last mention of it over here. Anyway, I'd be more than happy to play most of those settings ported to Fate. It's mostly the setting bits that I like from them anyway.

Hi! + Player/GM + EST I have no experience with FATE except having read the FATE Core Rulebook and watched/listener to people play on YouTube or Podcasts. I have not yet seen/heard a setting/GM that truly interested me. However, I have hope that FATE is the right system to bring my home brew fantasy world to life. I won’t go into the details of the setting here, but I will say that I started by trying to reverse engineer the Adventure into he Wild Blue Yonder (Lady Blackbird) rules to fit my game, then found FATE and am trying to figure out how to modify the rules to make the magic system and races fit into FATE Core. Is it appropriate to post in the FATE Corps forums about game design or are there other better/more appropriate forums for that elsewhere? As I am currently DMing a very fulfilling Adventures in Middle-earth game, I am not interested in GMing a FATE game yet until I learn the system better and how best to used Roll20 to facilitate the game, I would be interested in being the player in a oneshot or tutorial for newbies. I understand how to run FATE at a table but not how to use Roll20 (which I have only been using for around a month) to emulate the table/fate points/aspects/advantages/etc. I want to see some tips and tricks! I have an odd schedule because off my job and family, but would be willing to play in the morning hours before I go in to work on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays. Best times for me are 10am-1pm or 12-3am EST Friday through Tuesday. Or 10pm to 1am on Wednesdays or Thursdays EST (though short(er) sessions would be even better). As for characters/settings I would want to play: I love fantasy and anything that would help me figure out how I want to run my own game would interest me most. I would be open to playing almost any kind of character but would probably lean towards interesting races and magic users as I am interested in how to include fantasy races and a magic system into FATE (beyond the examples given in the text). I am interested in rich (deep) characters and world building. When I GM, I like to create stories based around the PC’s backgrounds and goals. All of these reasons are why I feel like FATE is the right system for me. Hope to get to know some of you soon, Ben

Hi! Andy here. So far I haven't played any Fate at all. I watched Wil Wheaton playing it on Tabletop, and I bought and read the book and I think the system is great. But I have not had the opportunity to play. I would like to play and after I get the hang of the system, start GMing. I have had a lot of experience with other tabletop rpg systems, so I know how to rp and how to roll dice. I am located in Mountain time zone, and week night evenings would work for my schedule. As far as genres, I am game for most things. Although, I'm not a brony or into any cutsie anime, so probably none of that, but otherwise I've got an open mind.
Hello everyone! I am both a player and a GM. Although, not really confident to run anything on Fate Core nor FAE yet, but willing to get more experience and try. I really like to build worlds with the players and characters that tie to the world. Other times I create a world and just bring players in to test it out and see if it's any good. Nowadays, I like to play games based on Video Games/Animes/Movies/Comics, those kinds of things. So if there like minded people out there, let's see if we can get together and play something. I have both played and run several games. That I can name of the top of my head (in no particular order) are Fate Core, FAE, Dungeon World, D&D 4e/5e, Dragon Age, ODAM, Pathfinder, and others that I can't remember now haha. My availability is mostly Weekdays after 5 PM, and every other Weekend before 2 PM EDT (GMT -4/-5). Let me know if you guys want to get some adventures going :) Ghost
Tucker Barnes, player and GM. well, aspiring player. The only fate campaign I have been a part of was as GM for a Digimon campaign. Would love to play, and I've got an idea for a campaign I'd like to run that would only work in fate. every session starts with a new set of characters in a different world, and each campaign is focused on surviving the perils of the new world and eventually discovering it's secret. A twist-focused sci ffi story sort of like twilight zone or black mirror.
Hello everyone! I'm Green Smartie, currently 100% player with some interest in becoming a GM in the future. I haven't really played with the fate system before, but I've been following several campaigns that do and am itching to give it a try. Up until now, I've played mostly fifth edition D&D, but I want to branch out a bit and try a few other systems to get more experience and a better understanding of RPing in general. I live in the Pacific Time Zone, and at the moment I don't have much of a preference for any particular type of setting. Maybe sci-fi? Or something superhero related, that works too :D
Alexander F. A player, and a future GM. No preference in setting and such. GMT +2/+3 is totally fine.

Hello Everyone. Names: Daniel you can also call me DJ. Timezones: Pacific/PST. My schedule is work Monday thru Friday. I'M both a Player and a GM. Games that I have run. Anima, Westend starwars, WoD Vampire and D&D 2.0 Experience about 2years and a lot rusty. Games that I have played. Anima, stars with out numbers, D&D any version, WoD and many others. Experience 20 years. Genres. I'm open to alot of stuff. Currently in really wanting to play horror.
Hey everyone I'm Alex. I'm UK based and both GM and player, though mostly GM. I have a fairly flexible schedule as long as its not midday weekdays or 3am at night. I'm less experienced with Fate than I'd like to be, having GMed a very short campaign of Core a while back and that's pretty much it. I've GMed generally for ages however in quite a few systems and played in nearly as many. I'm mostly looking to Fate for sci-fi, having played a bit too much fantasy as of late. I am also about to post an LFP, so there'll be that, and am always up for more games to run/play. I don't know if oneshots are a thing here, but I do them quite regularly and I found it's a great way to meet new players.

Hey everyone, I’m Terrance. I live in California, as a player and a GM. My schedule changes by season as a college student, but I usually have a few days free any given week. I’ve GM’d several games of varying systems, but I’d have to say fate is one of my favorites. Right now I’m really on a horror binge.
Hello, My name is Jericho. I've played FATE for 2 sessions now in the Sunset City Heroes Campaign, and I've been involved in the roll20 tabletop scene for about 7 months now. I'm EST time zone, and what I'm into FATE-wise is just about anything gameplay-wise. Personal Favorite Settings: -Superhero -Fantasy -Sci-Fi -Cyberpunk -Steampunk -Gothic (Cthulhuian) But I am open to other settings if they happen to peak my interest. I am not super interested into DMing right now as I feel I need to have a firmer grasp on the rules of FATE, but once I do, I look forward to DMing. I look forward to supplementing my already going FATE campaign with some unique one-shots.
Hello, my name is Steven. I've never played FATE but I'm interested in joining a Dresden Files Accelerated game as a player. I have no interest in GMing. My free time atm is Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday around 7 PM EST and out. Up until now i've mostly just played DnD but I love the dresden files so much i thought it might be fun to give its game a go.

Hi all, I'm a new, never played (FATE) before player. I'm really looking forward to learning. I'm on AKST time (GMT -9) and usually look for games late night during the week. I'm not really into graphic, gory horror, but open to just about every other possibility. I'm relatively new to playing RPGs but learning alot as I move along. I currently only play a DnD 5e game on Saturday nights and am looking to find another mid-d week game. Thanks for having me, Alfodr
Hi, I'm Stephanie Player only for now. EST (GMT -5). My schedule is weird as I work shifts, though I am on a regular rotation so my evenings and days don't change much. That means if I do find a game time that works I can be consistent with it. I'm new to Fate, though I've played D&D in the (long) past. The collaborative storytelling has always been the part that I enjoyed most and Fate seems like a good fit for that interest. I'm pretty open to most settings except, perhaps, horror. If there is a group or GM out there that is willing to handhold a new player for a bit, or if there is a group of newbies that want to learn together, please get in touch.

Hi! My name's Hannah and I'm completely new to the FATE system, save knowing that I've heard bits and pieces about it and knowing it sounds fun. I'm a massive fantasy and book nerd. Edit: GMT timezone and I wanna just be a player for now, though maybe as I learn I would consider GM'ing.
Hello my name is Desmond but you can call me Katana if you want. I GM'ed a FATE Accelerated game for my friends a little while back and would love too GM again at some point but I really what the chance too play in a FATE game or two. My timezone is EST. I've only been rping for about four months but I fell in love with it long before that thanks too a few campaigns I watched on Youtube. I mostly play Dungeon World right now but I really love FATE cause of the freedom it gives players too come up with any crazy character they want. Thanks for reading! :D
hello my name is Rodrigo, im from Guatemala and i´m looking for a group of one shots my group is not interested in playing fate so i decideds to find a group online
Hi, You can call me Gar. I live in Wisconsin (Central Time Zone). I have plenty of experience as a player and GM, but very little experience with FATE, so I'm not confident being a GM--yet, especially in Roll20. I have some experience with a fairly "light" system--the HeroQuest: Glorantha RPG. I had heard about FATE and finally played one game at a con, and was immediately intrigued. Right now I don't know if I will have time to play in the near future. Definitely something short-term is best for me right now.
Hi, I'm Brian, you can call me Brian. I live in the EST time zone (UTC -5) I've been playing TRPGs since around 2012 as both a player and a GM (although I should probably just be listed as "player" for this group). Most of my experience is with D&D 5e, but I have also dipped my toe into other systems including Shadowrun, Cyberpunk 2020, Pathfinder, and Stars Without Number. I haven't ever played FATE before, but I've read the manual and it looks like a lot of fun! I wanted to get into FATE because it looks quite a bit more rules-light than most systems and I'm starting to get tired of D&D's constant emphasis on combat.
Hello there, my name is Boom pleasure to meet you all! I'm both a GM and a player. I'm on the EST timezone. So, I've only played 1 or 2 games of Fate and both have been cool, I think with each game I'm getting a better understanding of what is happening and what I can do. I recently picked up The Breakfast Cult on Roll 20 and would love to run it for a few people. It would be a long term campaign with a lot of shenanigans akin to Titansgrave or The Adventure Zone.
Hello I'm Jon +Player and GM +Eastern Timezone I have played many game systems, d20, Cortex, FATE Core, FATE Accelerated, D6, GURPS, Savage Worlds, Fantasy Core, and some more along with making a FATE Core Hack, FATE Accelerated Hacks and D6 Hack versions of the system to support stories I ran in the game. However I fell completely in loved with FATE, its story aspects and easy to use game mechanics system is just the bomb when trying to coming up with new ideas. I ran FATE Accelerated Version of Animorphs, Tron, and FATE Core of ReBoot, and now I am running a game called World of Fire...if anybody wants to know about the current game just fill free to ask but to give you a brief vague summary its Supernatural/Lovecraftian Horror mix and I am a big fan of HP Lovecrafts work and own a copy of complete works. I haven't finished ready it yet. Thanks for the invite and can't ready to run an awesome game.
Hello everyone. +Player & GM (Hopefully) +GMT+5 I'm Musa, I'm looking to learn how exactly play FATE Core. I'm new to roleplaying games so I'm not familiar with alot of things around FATE but I do some screenwriting so I know all the narrative stuff. I'm just hoping to use games like this to help me with my craft & maybe if I'm experienced enough I can run my own games too.
Hellos GM/Player Eastern time zone (Philadelphia!) Been playing role playing games for 20+ years and recently found FATE. Looking for friends to play Dresden Files on weeknights, hit me up if your looking for GM/Player
I'm a player for now. Central time zone until May and then moving to the west coast. I was planning to run a campaign in Fate because I wanted to convince my friend group to try it although I had never played before. I read the Fate Core book and I ran half a character creation before people had to leave and we ran into a lot of roadblocks that ended the campaign without another session. I've been a D&D player and GM on and off since around 2011 and now I'm looking to try a more story-based game. I started with diceless RP in chatrooms even earlier than that. I'm currently self-employed and I can make myself available most nights but I'm hoping to try some pickup games before I commit time to a full campaign. I'm up for most things in terms of setting. More importantly I value character interaction, creative problem solving, having control over the environment and character development.
Hello! I'm a player and GM I'm in UTC-8 (and UTC-7 during local daylight savings time), though my schedule is fairly tight, so odd timezone times may still work for me I'm new to Roll20, so not likely to GM for a bit until I get some experience with the system. I've got a couple decades of experience with tabletop RPGs in general. Fate is more recent. I was a backer of the Fate Core Kickstarter, and I've been playing on and off since then. Recently, I GMed an Aether Sea game which lasted a couple of months. Most of my experience with Fate is one-shot or short-run. I've never tried a long campaign with the system. I play RPGs mostly as a release and escape, so I tend towards lighter fare. By "light', I don't necessarily mean "slapstick" or even "humor", but instead something that's easy to get into, and engaging without being emotionally gut-wrenching. Something like Montsegur: 1244, for example, is just exhausting to me. I look forward to playing with y'all!
Hello everyone!! I'm Letha, I'm 21, and I reside in the UTC +8 (China Standard) Timezone. I'm a new player to Fate Core/FAE, and I hope to get some experiences under my belt soon. I may consider GMing but that will be farther down the line as I have, to date, never played with the Fate/FAE systems. I have downloaded many Fate Core and FAE Adventures and Worlds booklets, as well as having perused the core rulebooks for both Core and FAE. I'm a writer and roleplayer at heart which is why I think this system(s) will be great for me. I enjoy character development in a relatively controlled but not restricted environment, as well as problem solving and various other little things that come with storytelling. I am also an artist so if anyone would like to take me along on a campaign or one-shot, I could potentially illustrate characters for the group. As for session/campaign length, I would like to start with a few 2-4 hours long one shots, or maybe a short campaign across a few months. Generally my time is flexible but I always need prior notice because things pop a up a lot in my life. I hope to play with people here, and thanks for reading. Have a good day/evening!
Hello, I'm Jeff. I am in the EST and looking to join a Fate game running on weekday evenings. I have never played Fate but I just finished reading the core rulebook and I'm excited to give it a try. The story-driven rules-light nature of the game seems like a breath of fresh air compared to other games I play, like D&D. Due to my inexperience with the system, I'm looking to be a player initially with the goal of becoming a GM at some point down the road.
Dylan Player Pacific time zone. I’ve been playing Table too rpg’s for about seven or eight years now. The Dresden Files is Absolutely my favorite Tabletop gane so far but I’ve played quite a few, including both the new and old additions of Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu, Cthulhu by Gaslight, Monster’s And Other Childish Things, and Eclipse Phase. Right now I’m really trying to find a Submerged Power Level game for the Dresden Files. I’ve really enjoyed playing the DFRPG before and I would love to get a group together. Finally I’m pretty proud of my warden Even though I’m always tweaking something on the sheet. Hello. I'm Megan. I'm a player, though I could probably GM if I came up with a good premise that I felt good about. I've played a few FATE games, including a couple fantasy campaigns, a steampunk/historical campaign set in the Pinkerton days, and a couple others. I'm also about to play in an ICONS game, which is a mix of FATE rules with Marvel Superheroes. I'm on Pacific time, currently, and only play in text games.
