Dynamic lighting problem

Hello All Wondering if someone could help me out with a problem i can't seem to fix, even with reading the forums and looking online. I'm using dynamic lighting on my map (caves with no global illumination) and when I log in as player I can see the character but nothing else When I hit control-L as GM this is what is visible I've adjusted everything as such Page settings as such  Only when I disable 'fog of war' the lighting works as it should, but, then the characters have vision of the other areas of the map when in line of sight. Any advice? Cheers!

A few thoughts: 1) you usually use Dynamic Lighting or Fog of War, but not both. I’d suggest getting it working without fog of war on.  2) where you log in as a player, you have permissions like a player so you need to assign yourself control of the character. (I’m pretty sure you did this, but just to be sure) From your description and pictures, it looks like everything is working right?  I’m not clear in the problem in the last picture. When you say “players have visibility of other areas when they have line of sight” it sounds like what I would expect. If you want to enforce no visibility, maybe you do want fog of war, and it’s a question of revealing the places you want them to see with the fog of war tools in the menu. Or are you maybe confusing fog of war (basically a big opaque blanket you have to cut holes in ) with Advanced Fog of War (a system that remembers what the players have already seen)?

I use both cause I'm paranoid like that. Issue to remember is that you still need to "Reveal" areas through the fog of war that the players will be allowed to see. They override dynamic lighting. Once you do so, their dynamic lighting will work as you have set. As far as the Control-L thing in GM mode, even though the focus is on the token, you still have a god's eye view, just from that perspective of the selected token. Decent enough for checking your light wall placement and range of visibility, but not what the character actually sees. The Aaron is right though, both are really not needed, but they can be used together, just have to remember the extra steps required so that your players can see. They remind you pretty quick, "HEY, ITS STILL BLACK". Oh crap, I need to reveal this section............ Good luck On a side note, if there is a light source in the distance, and they still have line of sight, they SHOULD be able to see it still, so that area would need to be revealed if still using fog of war.

If you really want a view of what another character sees, create a second account (I use one to record games, so they don't have the GM view), and assign that account control over the player character, in addition to the actual player. Log in under that account in a different (incognito) window. That should give you a definitive view.

Thanks guys Appreciate the replies. The issue was with 'fog of war' on I was getting no vision of anything. Even when moving around. It would all stay black when explored. I guess ill just have the fog of war off for this one. The effect is more or less what I'm looking for. I was just trying to have the other stuff not visible until the area was explored, but, thinking about it now it wouldn't make sense. Thanks again Cheers!
