Playing without Map and other questions.

I've gone through some of the tutorial and read some of the forums, and I may have missed the obvious answer to this so please forgive my noobishness. I want to connect with other gamers to get the old gaming spirit up and alive again. I'm really hoping to run a game using play-by-post and voice chat in some combination. So here are my questions: Can roll20 be utilized without mapping/dungeon crawling? Can it be used asynchronously like a pay by post Can I do just voice chat? Thanks in advance

(all up to the GM) and players it is referred to as theater of the mind or mind's eye theater style of play.  2. there are text only based games where this is possible See answer #1 3. yes you can turn it to voice only in settings if you wish some games may require otherwise see answer #1
