Very Few Search Results

Basically every time I search for anything...tokens, portraits, maps/tiles/textures, anything...I get very few results, or no results at all. I also very commonly see the exact same thing (from the exact same source) repeated endlessly, making it appear like the search results go on forever, when in reality it has returned maybe 3 hits. This happens literally every time I search, regardless of the simplicity or specificity of the search. Results for "metal floor" come up with all of 3 hits, and all from the Premium category. "thug" brings back the exact same picture of a single bleeding lizard person for eternity. And, my personal favorite, "star wars" returns literally no hits at all. I find it difficult to believe that a search function which says it's also combing the web returns such paltry results, so I'm wondering if there's some other problem. I have cleared my browser's cache and memory and restarted multiple times, but to no avail.

IIRC, the results used to be returned from Google Images search until Google decided to charge a premium price for using the API. Most of the results are from cached searches from beofre that time. Unless you are looking from something from your library or the Marketplace, you'd be better off using a dedicated search engine.

Also, Marketplace search tags are entirely dependent upon the content creator tagging them appropriately.

No, the problem isn't with your account or your browser. As the Devs said over here : After doing some digging, this is what's the cause of this issue: Back in the early days of Roll20, Google's search engine API was free and readily available to be used. This was utilized for our web search for the Art Library. At the time, Google had claimed that this would be a freely available asset for a long time. As you can probably guess where this story is going, they decided later to lock their API behind a very significant price tag. Nowadays, when someone runs searches in the art library, it's using search results that we scraped back when we still had the API available. Those search results are tied to the keywords that were searched with at the time. This list of compiled searches are nearly four years old now, and limited to the keywords that were utilized by a fraction of the userbase that we have now. Ideally, we would find another search engine API to utilize, but so far we haven't found one that is financially feasible to license. When things change it will be announced, but for now we're stuck with what we have.
