Grid Distance displaying while not checked on

My overworld map has the grid off but if you take the ruler out it sometimes acts like the grid is on.

Do you mean the ruler is still 'snapping to grid' even with the grid turn off? If so, that is certainly not intentional behaviour. Please confirm and we'll escalate to the tech help steps if needed. In the short term you can use the alt key to prevent grid snapping by default. Thanks

Thanks It doesn't snap to the grid but it keeps the length. So whenever I use the rule over 2 hexs it shows the length correctly even when the grid is off.

That sounds like the intentional behaviour to me, please correct me if I'm wrong though! Even without the grid active the VTT will still have an idea of what the grid 'is' so that you can have nice seamless images (like an over-world map) yet still measure distance on it. Ensure your page settings have the right scale for distance and you'll have yourself a useful tool for calculating travel times. If i'm still not grasping the issue please supply some screenshots to help me understand :) Thanks
That's right 100%. I really didn't mind it because of that but I wasn't sure if it was a bug.  Thank you for your help! Coleman Wilson
