Using &{template:dnd4epower} macro in 5e D&D?

Hi everyone! Is there a way to use a 4th edition template macros (&{template:dnd4epower}) in 5th edition? My friends and I (that is, if I had any friends) have created some extremely homebrew classes and spells. Coming from 4e, I realize how rather restricting the 5e template system is. I was wondering if there was in any way to use a 4e macro (or something with similar freedom besides Default) in a 5e game. It seems as though every time I try I just get a blank. No error message or anything. Thank you so much!

Only the default roll template can be used universally, regardless of sheet. All othe r roll templates are part of the sheets code, so for you to be able to use 4E template in a 5e game, you'd have to have a GM who is pro user who sets the game up with a custom sheet, and essentially copies the 4e macro to the end of the html-code for the sheet you are using. I thought some of the 5E sheets had more than one template?
Yah they do! They all seem somewhat limiting of what you can add however... As in you cant just make a new line and call it whatever you want. Oh well, thanks for the quick reply!

Have you looked at the default template? I've used it in a game(that is a bit on the simpler side) that don't have templates and it have been nice so far.
Yes I have. I feel its a bit bulky but Im sure it will work. I dont suppose you would mind sharing some examples of the default template that you use? It would be super helpful!
There are also creative ways to use the 5e template that might do what you want it to do.  What are you creating a macro for, specifically? Generic Attack with prompts for attack bonus, damage dice, and damage bonus &{template:atkdmg}  {{r1=0} }}  }    {{dmg1=?{Damage Dice} + ?{Damage Mod}  }}  {{crit1=?{Damage Dice}}} Generic dice roll with advantage/disadvantage &{template:simple}  {{r1=?{Dice?}}}  {{r2=?{Dice?}}} Initiative (assumes token is attached to a filled out sheet) @{wtype}&{template:simple} {{rname=^{init-u}}} {{mod=@{initiative_bonus}}} {{r1=[[@{initiative_style}+@{initiative_bonus}@{pbd_safe}[INIT] &{tracker}]]}}  @{charname_output} Initiative that prompts for bonus instead of relying on a sheet &{template:simple}  {{mod=?{Init Mod|0} }} {{r1=[[1d20 + ?{Init Mod|0}[Initiative Bonus] + (?{Init Mod|0}) *.01)[TieBreaker] &{tracker} ]]}}  Sorcerer MetaMagic (not all of them, but the format is easy to follow) @{wtype}&{template:atkdmg} {{desc=**Sorcerer MetaMagic** Sorcerer Points Used: ?{MetaMagic Type | Careful Spell(1), 1 Select up to @{charisma_mod} targets to auto-succeed their save | Distant(1), 1 Touch Range becomes 30' Ranges of 5' or greater are doubled | Empowered(1), 1 Reroll up to @{charisma_mod} damage dice (Can be combined with other MetaMagic) | Extended(1), 1 Spell Durations of 1 min or more are doubled | Heightend(3), 3 Impose Disadvantage on target's first Save against effect | Quickened(2), 2 Casting time of 1 Action becomes Bonus Action | Subtle(1), 1 Cast without Verbal or Somatic Components | Twinned(Varies), **(SpellLevel)** When target is one creature (not self) spend points equal to the spell level to target a second creature } }} Healing Potions dropdown @{selected|wtype}&{template:atkdmg}   ?{Healing Potion Variety?| Standard (2d4+2),   |Greater (4d4+4),   | Superior (8d4+8),   |Supreme (10d4+20),  }

Hey that Metamagic one is pretty clever. In terms for what I was looking for specifically it would be something like this (in 4e): /me teleports and lashes at an enemy with lightning. &{template:dnd4epower} {{attack=1d20cs>20+@{power-1-attack} vs @{power-1-def} }} {{critical= Deals (1*@{power-1-weapon-num-dice})d@{power-1-weapon-dice}+@{power-1-damage}-floor(@{charisma-mod})+floor(@{magic}*.3) Shock damage.}} {{damage= Deals (1*@{power-1-weapon-num-dice})d@{power-1-weapon-dice}+@{power-1-damage}-floor(@{charisma-mod}) Sock damage. (Marks Target).}} Which comes out to this: What I found trying to translate abilities like this, from 4e to 5e templates, was it was difficult to get just a blank line in the macro such as the "Bloodsong: etc-" line. Is there a way to do this?
The thing to remember about 5e OGL sheet template is that is actually respects carriage returns.  If you want to split it into different lines of text, just put each chunk on a new line. &{template:atkdmg} {{desc=**Rolling Storm** **Free Action | Melee: 1** **Trigger:** Shadowstep to a target using a Minor Action **Attack:** 1d20cs>20+@{power-1-attack} vs @{power-1-def} **Damage:** Deals (1*@{power-1-weapon-num-dice})d@{power-1-weapon-dice}+@{power-1-damage}-floor(@{charisma-mod}) Sock damage. (Marks Target) **Umbral Repost:** The next attack targeting Rava's AC or Reflex by this target misses. **Bloodsong:** Restore ☼**5** Mana (Once per round) ♦Once Per Target♦}}
Wow thanks! I didnt even know you could press enter and not have it break the script! Youre awesome!
