Macros in roll queries trouble

The docs mention this syntax (and warn about the escaping problem): ?{Which macro?|Attack,#use-sword |Defend,#use-shield } I've tried basically the same with my own macros, but couldn't get them evaluated. The result of the query was always just printed in the log. I had to resort to using buttons, but it's annoying another interaction is involved and I'm not sure the visibility is perfect: /me ?{Choose an option| frostbite, [tries](! #frostbite)| staff, [tries](! #qstaff-str)| shilleleagh, [tries](! #shillelagh) } Any pointers would be appreciated.
?{Which macro?|Attack,#use-sword |Defend,#use-shield }   will work so long as #use-sword and #use-shield do not contain any characters that will mess with the overall drop-down query  (pipes, commas, or end-curly braces).  Its function is entirely dependent on how the called macros are written. This is a lot more apparent when using templates rather than plain text. Ex:  If #use-sword is a MACRO (not an ability) that says  "Attack [[1d20]] for [[1d8]] damage"  then you're fine. Ex: If #use-sword is a MACRO (not an ability) that says "Attack [[1d20 + ?{Mod?|0}]] for [[1d8+ ?{Damage bonus?|0}]] or similar, you'll run into issues.

But that's what I'm saying, I'm not getting any errors, printed code. It's just plain text of what was supposed to be the macro execution. Edit: nevermind, I tried reproducing the original behaviour, but I can't.
