I'm a 5E player looking to get into PF, are the mythic rules too much of a barrier or would I be able to comprehend them from D&D playing and DMing experiences?

They are not.  We are starting at level 1, so there will be enough time to work your way into them.  In other words, you have about 6 levels to learn about pathfinder before worrying about Mythic rules
