New to roll20 and D&D. Looking for some Macro tips to use with LMoP module.

First off, I'm brand spanking new to roll20 and have little clue to what I'm doing. With that being said. I'm trying to set up my game with as much automation as possible to help guide the story along. Any tips I can get on how to set this game session up would be greatly appreciated. I am a subscriber as well so I have full access to API. Looking forward to an awesome game!!!!

I would recommend looking at the API scripts page for your campaign, and the one-click installer. There's a bunch of scripts that are useful to install there. First I would suggest is installing TokenMod, and setting up a couple of macros: one for updating pc tokens, and another for npc tokens. You'll have to look at the syntax to figure out exactly how to do it for your campaign, but this will enable you to drop a token on the map, change which character it represents, and then click the tokenmod script and immediately set it up as the default token for that characetr, with all token settings you need applied automatically. This is a massive time saver. I'd also recommend you look on youtube for roll20 tutorials, read the roll20 wiki, and do the roll20 tutorial. If you really have no clue what you're doing, most people's advice (like that i just gave you) will likely confuse you. You need to know some basic stuff before you can really take advantage of people's help.
Probably not a direct answer to your question, but something I did was to set up a dummy campaign. I use this to play around with stuff first, try things out, modify macros and such. It's amazing how quickly scripts and macros can get added, and there is the potential of conflict at times which can cause the game to have 'issues'.
Thanks for the input GG and Martin. I'm ok with some basic scripting/coding, but this is on another level from where my current skill set is. I was just kinda hoping there were some generic macros/nested macros I could get my hands on. I've tested out quite a few of the 1-click API scripts, and have the basics down. It's just the advanced macros/nested macros I'm trying to get my head wrapped around. I know it will come in time, and the community here is very active/helpful. One question I have for the API scripts is I don't see any of them populating automatically. Do all of the API scripts need a macro to support? The only one that I've used that automatically setup the macro is the Marching Order API. Thanks again for the help/advice, and I'll keep trucking along. I used to play D&D tabletop when I was a kid, about 20 years ago lol, and things have changed a little bit. I'm trying to get my wife and kids in on the action and roll20 seems like an awesome way to introduce and immerse them in the D&D universe. Just trying to make it as intuitive as possible because the attention span isn't the best with the audience.

Generally you need to issue a chat command to make most API scripts do something. Usually this is handled by a macro, since typing them in over and over is laborious. Once you have a suite you like, I suggest making one or more  Chat Menus for in-game usage. It cuts down on the number of buttons, and is similar to the Marching Order menu you mentioned. There are many threads where newcomers to Pro ask for script recommendations. The search function on Roll20 forums is very quirky, and you can often get better results with a google search of "Roll20 forum [search terms] "
Oh, ok. Thanks Keith. Yet again this community has proven to be amazing. Hope to be able to contribute in the future once I get a good grasp.
Would anyone happen to have a game set up already that you could invite me into as DM so I could see how these macros/APIs are set up?
