Date: Friday, May 11, 2018 Time: 4 PM PDT / 6 PM CDT / 7 PM EDT / May 11 23:59 UTC If the date and time are no good for you, let me know when is! I may run the scenario again if there's interest. https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20180511T18&p1=64 I am a GM looking to start a group for an easy one shot (a game that takes only one session to complete). This is great for both beginners and experienced players, and players new to D&D 5e are welcome. I have played and GMed hundreds of hours of tabletop RPGs, and hosted many one shots and successful campaigns. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $5 via PayPal for the one session. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. If you've never played D&D 5e before, checkout this video series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoW2CDgztKY&list=PLJmFJXf3BXjwXkNFo_-iwtHb24AuJcXqx The Basic Rules for D&D 5e contain all the rules you need to get started for free. Read the Introduction and Chapters 7-10 (29 pages in total): http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules Campaign Background The Death Curse is ravaging the lands of Faerûn. Resurrection magic no longer has any effect, and those who have been magically resurrected are withering away and dying once more. From what evil does this plague originate, and most importantly how can it be stopped? A group of Harper agents believe the magical force behind the Death Curse may be related to the magic that liches use. If true, it would mean liches would be able to sense the magic. And if such a lich could be located and forced to divulge what they know, the information could help find the source of the plague and ultimately stop it. It's not much to go on, but when life and death hang in the balance, it's a hope. Campaign Features The adventure is a dungeon crawl and focuses on exploration and combat. I expect the session should take about 4 hours. This adventure will be run as part of the Adventurers League (AL). If you've never played AL before, basically you have to follow the character creation rules and also fill out a sheet at the end of the session that tracks your progress. The adventure will be run on Roll20, and players will be invited to join D&D Beyond where I have a Master Tier subscription that grants access to digital versions of the core books and all the player options (PHB, DMG, MM, SCAG, XGE, and VGM). It also includes their Character Builder and searchable databases of the spells, items, and monsters. Character Creation The adventure is for 1st-4th level characters. If you are new to AL, you start at level 1. If you've never made a D&D 5e character before, pre-generated character sheets are recommended and available at http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/character_sheets Pick any of the 16 and use the 1st-level sheet. If you are making a character, you must follow the AL rules (read DDAL_Players_Guide_v7.0.pdf, and only that): Point Buy, no rolled starting wealth, PHB+1, no races with fly at level 1, simple encumbrance. Mundane items can be sold for half their PHB price and bought for their regular PHB price. I recommend using D&D Beyond's builder through my campaign link. Alternatively I recommend OrcPub2, CharForge, ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator, or MPMB. Application (3-7 seats total) Please post applications and questions here. 18+ only. Voice with Discord is mandatory. 1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? 3) What made you pick my LFG post? 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Why paid GMing? Defray the content costs. I'm hoping to use the money to buy some Marketplace content on Roll20 and more RPG materials. Prevent flakes. Players (and GMs) are far more likely to show up and be on time if there's payment involved. It takes a lot of extra time to GM. I spend about 2 hours per game-hour prepping. Reading the adventure, taking notes, cross-referencing rules, finding and making tokens, finding and making maps, setting them up in Roll20, adding NPCs to Roll20, going over character sheets, and organizing the session all takes a lot of time outside the game. It's part of the hobby, but as I'm having to put in prep time I'd rather not have to spend so much on the content costs too. LFG Listing
Hi, I'm interested in this game. 1. I've been gaming since elementary school, which would be a good three decades. I've been running a regular Monday night game since 2002, currently 5e. I haven't had much chance to play recently and I'd like to give it a try. 2. Coming together to create memorable stories of drama and overcoming obstacles 3. I haven't played Adventurer's League before and the one-shot module looks like a good way to try it out with a new character. 4. Yes, the fee is fine
1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience Hey, Lex, I'm Dan. I've been playing games run by you on Roll20 for several months now, but I've played 5e for a fair bit before that as well. 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? I like finding creative ways to fit a bunch of square pegs into a round hole. Of course, the feeling of rolling a 2 on the ability check to pull it off and have that plan fall to pieces is a lot of fun, too. 3) What made you pick my LFG post? I know that you put a lot of time and effort into prepping games, and I appreciate that. It's up to the rest of us to overcome whatever it is you have planned. 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Of course.
1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience Hi I'm Geoff, I've been playing table top rpgs for a few years ago. Currently enjoying 5e, looking to get more details on the dangers of the death curse and Chult! 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? In a video game when things go wrong you just reload your most recent save. In a table top rpg when things go wrong you just have to roll with it :) 3) What made you pick my LFG post? The time works well for me. Also I am enjoying your ToA campaign right now and this seems like a good add on to it! 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Yes
Thank you all for the applications! We still have a few slots open if anyone is interested in joining.

I go by Wulfric here and I've been playing D&D off and on for over 30 years. I started playing 5e last summer and really enjoyed the streamlining WotC has done with the system. One of the things I enjoy about gaming is building a new character from the ground up and seeing who they turn into. I chose found your game through Roll20's LFG search for "Starting Soon" and I was drawn in by the fact that you are playing some of the newer AL content. I've spent most of my time as a DM and could use a break. Paypal is completely acceptable to me. As some additional info, I've seen the module but have not run, read, or played it. As a DM, I hate rules lawyers and meta-gamers so you don't have to worry about me being one. I have a couple of characters prepped and hope I can give them a run.
1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience Hi Lex, it's me again. My name is Steven and I have been gaining a lot of RP experience lately with your ToA campaign and another one I am in. I have almost 100 hours on Roll20 now. 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? I like the freedom it allows and how that freedom encourages creativity. I love open-ended situations that require some thinking and problem solving. 3) What made you pick my LFG post? I have been enjoying our ToA campaign and I am looking forward to trying out another character in a related storyline. 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Yes.
1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience I've been playing 5e for about ten months, and AL at my FLGS for about two months, and have had a blast. I've never DM'ed 5e (though I probably will, eventually), but I have run some lighter indie games like The Quiet Year. 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? I love the way that the story can take surprising, hairpin turns depending on how the dice fall. 3) What made you pick my LFG post? I've been looking for online AL-legal games that are convenient for my time zone. Also, I am interested in (and a little afraid of) the ToA season setting, but haven't done anything in it aside from the Drums of the Dead epic. 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Yes.
1) Describe yourself and a bit about your roleplaying experience Hello Lex, my name is Ross. I've been playing 5e pretty consistently for the past couple years and a fair amount of 3.5 back in the day. I've played and DM'ed 5e... I definitely dive headfirst into D&D games 2) What do you enjoy most about tabletop RPGs? I really love telling stories and being told stories. D&D is the perfect outlet for this part of me. Creating memorable characters and (hopefully) surviving memorable battles is what it's all about. I love RP'ing just as much as tactical gameplay. 3) What made you pick my LFG post? You put a lot of time and thought into your LFG post which makes me feel you'd put the same kind of effort into running a game... I have also really wanted to get into an AL game so this seems perfect. 4) Do you accept the payment requirements for the session? Absolutely.
If I am too late for this one shot - do you another AL one-shot planned any time soon?
