Okay! So to get this out of the way, my Timezone is PHT (Philippines, GTM +8) but for the sake of simplicity, I tend to default to EST (I often play with people in the US after all). As for my availability, my Sundays (Monday my time) is already slotted for an entirely different game but i'm other than that willing to discuss the time and day. TL;DR: Some guy watches Infinity War and later gets reminded of City of Heroes. He now wants a Supers Game, doesn’t know a lot of system so makes other people pick for him and prefers the game to be based on a Homebrew/Custom Universe. Likes roleplaying and making Morally ‘Grey’ Characters and a system with a detailed or a good character customization. Hi there!
My handle is TeeEight but call me Tate, the title basically says what I’m looking
for right now, which is a Supers Game. I’m not too picky with the system but I
am partial to a universe that’s homebrewed. I can be a little picky about my
universe and the type of powers it allows but I did enjoy Worm by Wildbow, The MCU (Almost all of the Marvel TV
Shows, AoS and Legion are the first that comes to mind) and even some of the DCU (I liked most of
the animated movies and CW Stuff is… Suffice to say it's a love-hate thing for me). I enjoy a
mixture of dark and humor in my superheroes, something that Worm and Marvel are good at providing (Worm is more on the dark, serious and realistic but damn does can it be funny for levity sake). But back to the System for a second . I’d prefer one where you can basically
create your ‘dream' character. I don’t mean one where it allows you to make some
overpowered character or even one that lets you cover every possible use of
your powers, I’d like the latter but I don’t think you can do it without also
ending up bordering on overpowered. What I mean is that you can build a
character in a cosmetic-roleplay-y manner. I will admit that I don’t know a
lot of Superhero RPG (I can count them in one hand) so I have a pretty narrow
view. Basically, I just watched Infinity War and I started thinking about City
of Heroes/Villains earlier today and now i'm craving superhero stuff.
I’m okay with Voice Games though I already have a Sunday
Night Game (Monday Mornings My Time). I’m partial to a Play-By-Post and/or a
Text Game. Or even a mixture/mishmash of all three, not sure if that’s even
possible but hey better cover all grounds. The only thing I haven’t mentioned
is Video and that’s because I’m not a fan of Roll20’s Voice System (I can't get push to talk to work...) and Discord-which is the platform I use
more often- only lets you do videos in DMs rather than Servers. I see the
benefits of video of course but I don’t want it as a mandatory requirement for games? Besides, some people can be self conscious and/or it slows internet down.
Okay so I’m going to just give as brief-ish summary for what I
want in a game, I like heroes, anti-heroes or even villains and everything in
between. I’m kinda craving origin story for whatever character I create but I’m
not unwilling to start in the middle (especially if I’m joining an established
group, I’d rather just seamlessly join the group rather than disrupt things.) I
believe in Grey Morality so I’d probably fit more in a group that is okay with that, It’s
not that I can’t stand the whole black and white thing but well… I'm kinda cynical. I'd rather we play characters on a Earth or Earthlike environment and these things in the ' Superhero Jurisdiction Tiers ' of Street Levels (Batman, Spiderman, Ect) to Global/National (Avengers, X-Men). I'd rather not go with Galactic Stuff, as fun Guardians of the Galaxy is... I'd rather keep things relatively simple... I'm fine with Scaling though if things get stale and all that. Again, I'm cool with starting at the beginning or at the middle. All in all, I'm open to discussing things, I promise I generally don't talk/rant as much when it's just chatting by text or voice.
Here are some of the Supers I’ve created in the past that
pop in my head. Keep in mind most of them came from Roleplays rather than
Tabletop RPG. Maybe it might give an idea of the type of charries I play? (Or you
know, how I uh just rehash the same character coughunoriginalcough )
Samuel Lohaun (Noxious/Unseen) – Smoke Manipulation with a
Secondary Power of Body Language Reading. True Neutral.
Ex-Junkie, Homeless after accidentally or intentionally
murdering his girlfriend and a cop right after he got his Smoke Powers. Runs an
Information Network that consists largely of other homeless people.
(Inspiration: Delsin Rowe, Sherlock)
Evangelos D’Angelos (Regent -> Scion) – Electromagnism with
a Secondary Power of Electrokenisis. Super Villain, Neutral Evil/Lawful Evil?
Rich, Super Hero (Anti Hero) turned Villain after his father
forced him to go full dark, faked his death and resurfaced as the Armored Scion.
Sort of a Criminal Mastermind but doesn’t really want to take over the world or
get more money.
(Inspiration: Magneto, Ironman/Black Panther & Regent
from Worm)
Randall Fiero (Hellfire) – Hellfire Manipulation/or Demonic
Embodiment. Anti-Hero, Chaotic Good/Neutral?
A guy possessed by a powerful demon named Helrath (And a
whole myriad of other names/titles). Became a Vigilante who really, really
hates criminals and obviously murders em… Definitely Mentally Ill (either because of the
Demon or the Demon just made the existing mental problems worse)
(Inspiration: Rorschach, Ghost Rider/Punisher &
Apparently Deadpool) Honorable Mentions:
Disturbed One, my Super Villain from City of Villains. Demon
Possessed and was my Melee Fire Guy… Was definitely Chaotic Evil. Daniel Cray, my first and original demon host. Hellfire Manipulation and Darkness Manipulation. I'd describe him as a psychopathic manchild with severe memory problems. First created in an RP called B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense), works as their field agent after he was captured and implanted with seals that limited his powers and the control the demon had over him. I'll admit, it was fun to play him but he's a BPRDverse charrie, I generally depower and modify him to fit whatever universe I play him in. It's NOT as fun and it requires everyone is fine with the lunatic. I've never played him in a tabletop setting and god knows I'm not sure i'd want to do that. (The only reason he gets away with a lot of what he does is due to insanity and a healing factor that lets him survive his self-destructive tendencies)
Thank you for giving this a read (It's ranty and pretty long) and If ever you think you’d
like to see if I could fit in your group, send me a message in Discord, my name there is Tate#9769 (I’m more likely to reply there but I’ll check Roll20 just in
case). I’m willing to answer any questions or if an interview is required then by all means I’m happy to go through one, it's all official and good at putting stuff on the table. Edit: Someone mentioned a system called " Microscope RPG " which seems like it might be a useful tool for world building, so even if you just mention that you're a GM interested in including me in a world or even an already established world that just need more blurbs and background, this might be a useful tool/system.
