Hey everyone! I’m a DM looking for 5 players to run a campaign that goes all the way through the 5e Curse of Strahd adventure, using the Roll20 module materials. We’ll start at level 1 with Death House, and then move on to the rest of the adventure from levels 3 to ~10. For those who don’t know, the basic premise of CoS is that a group of adventurers gets spirited away to a demiplane run by the dread undead lord Strahd von Zarovich, whom they must overthrow in order to restore the land to peace as well as return to the home they once knew. The general theme is gothic horror, with all the classic spooks and haunts (think vampires, werewolves, witches, creepy children, zombies, haunted forests, ghosts). My guidelines for you as a player are these. Please read them carefully! Games will be weekly on Tuesdays at 9:00pm US Pacific time, for approximately 2-3 hours. Our first game will be in approx. one month, on August 28th. I don’t mind if you live in a different time zone, just remember to check the converted time to make sure it works for you :) If you can't make this time consistently, please find another game. I've been involved with too many games that fall apart because of scheduling conflicts. My general missed-game policy will be that if you cannot attend a session, your character will either be piloted by either me or another player of your choice, or your character will have an in-game reason to stay behind for that period of time. I will make the effort to keep cancelled games to a minimum, and I hope that you will as well. I prefer that you haven’t played or DM’d Curse of Strahd before, so that all players have the same level of knowledge of the adventure. That said, any amount of prior D&D 5e experience is fine by me, whether this is your first time or you’ve been doing it for years. Players and characters who are committed to roleplay, storytelling, and character development are highly preferred! Combat and dungeoneering will certainly be present, but I would like for everyone to be willing to connect and work together for the narrative as well, as there are many wonderful tales to unravel in this module. Players should be 18+, as this is a horror game and we will be tackling some mature topics. We’ll use Discord for audio and OOC chat; if the group decides we’d like to try video as well, I’m open to it. For player characters, all officially-published WotC 5e material + Critical Role material is okay to use – no homebrew and no Unearthed Arcana. Sorry, it’s just my preference! And a little bit about me as a person and a DM, as it might help you out in telling if this is the group for you! I’m 24, queer, femme. I’ve played with and DM’d for a wide variety of folks and made great connections with fellow gamers regardless of age, gender, creed, etc. As long as we are all respectful of each other, that’s what matters to me. My DM style is influenced by folks like Matt Mercer, Mark Hulmes, and Chris Perkins. I’d say that I stick pretty closely to the 5e rules as written (as opposed to homebrew rules), but I really enjoy creativity and saying what your character does first, and then figuring out how that plays out within the ruleset later. Please send me a PM if you're interested! Thank you!
