Hey guys, old DM here who hasn't been in the game for quite a while now. Looking to shake off some rust and get acquainted with the 5e system by running a low to mid level campaign using the Yawning Abyss modules to help familiarize myself and some of my players with the system. I've already got 2 players ready to go and I'm aiming for a group of 4, though I could potentially be convinced to take on a 5th. Either way, I'm in need of at least 2 more bodies. THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN: -It will be set in 'modern' Faerun, in the year 1491, after the Spellplague has ended and the world has started to sort itself out again. -This means the gods are fairly hesitant to hand out resurrection magic. If you get yourself killed you may have to roll up another character or hope your party can convince the gods to give them a quest to let you get brought back. -Basically everyone in Faerun worships a god. If you want to be an atheist be prepared to get looked at like scum and death means you're /definitely/ not coming back. -The game will start at level 1 with the goal of reaching level 12. If I feel like there's good party cohesion going on and everyone is having fun, we might keep going after that. So expect mid-level but plan for the long run. -The game will be on a weekly basis, though it might have to be pushed back to bi-weekly at times, due to some medical issues I have. THE RRRRRULES: I'll be using a lot of variant rules, since I think basic 5e is a bit on the simple side. Here's a list of what you can expect: -Variant Encumbrance -Flanking -Diagonals -Facing -Lingering Injuries -Healing by using Hit Dice during short rest requires healing kit charges -Ammunition tracking -The Charger feat is baseline for all characters -Disarm -Overrun/Shove Aside/Tumble -Hitting Cover -Cleaving Through Creatures -Massive Damage -Training to Gain Levels BOOKS: All source material other than Unearthed Arcana and resources specifically tied to other campaign settings may be considered usable. There are a few things in UA (like the revised ranger) that will be allowed but I will make that judgement on a case-by-case basis. MISC: -If you want to apply, you'll have to meet with me and the other players on Discord before we come to any decision on if you'll be included in our game. This will just make it easier to tell if everyone is going to get along early on rather than finding out there's friction at the start of the first session. -We expect mature role players in this group. There's plenty of room to joke around and have fun but you need to take the game seriously. -New players are welcome. -Currently our players include a ranger/druid and paladin. You can play whatever you want but if playing something someone else is already playing is an issue for you, these classes are currently taken. -I don't charge anything for this game other than your time.
