Yes, i think the interface should be able to pick up the minimal amount of letters to distinguish between chat commands. So if there is only one slash command that begins with e then /e should do. If however there is emote and exaggerate then /em and /ex should be enough. edit: any amount of letters after the minimum should also be recognised.

/me would be a good one since it's fairly common syntax in IRC / Skype programs
And in most MMOs. (Bad comparison, I know.)
