Best Way to handle secret player information?

I'm starting my first (hopefully) long running campaign as a GM and a few of my players have some really interesting ideas about secret backstories/potential traitor turns.  What is the best way to handle it if players want to keep track of persistent information hidden from other players but shared with the GM?  I like having everyone's character sheets be viewable by all players in the Journal as we passed sheets around all the time when were at the table, but once you do that there doesn't appear to be any "private to the player" notes section like there is for GM notes.  For example: A player wants to play a spy in a Cold War game and they have a cover story Bio for other players to see but they have a real Bio they want to be able to reference and share with the GM for potential story hooks.  I don't want to keep track of it in GM notes as I want the players to have control over it.  I know I could create blank handouts for each player and make them viewable/editable by just that specific player and me, but before I went down that road I wanted to check: Is there a better way to do this?  For reference, we are using the Star Wars: FFG (API-Compatible) sheets.
Your best bet is to make a handout viewable and editable by that player. Then only they can see it and fill out information.
Thanks for the input.  I'll go ahead and make some "secure datapad" handouts.
