Dynamic Lighting still acting up

1553442185

I thought this problem had been solved but now it seems it's back: On a map with Dynamic Lighting enabled, any token which is set up with 'Emits Light' and 'Has Sight'--but NOT 'All Players See Light'-- is still visible to all other tokens as if the 'All Players See Light' box was checked. This is clearly evident when selecting a token and using the Ctrl+L command to view what that token can see. I like to give my player and NPC tokens a small radius of emitted light to represent a bit of 'night vision' without need to resort to torches, etc, but this problem is making that impossible. Every token on the map becomes a glaring beacon of light that everyone can see. Is this a known bug? Any workarounds?
P.S. On the maps in question I have Dynamic Lighting: Enabled, Enforce Line of Sight, Only Update on Drop, and Restrict Movement, if any of that is relevant.

This is actually 2 bugs, and both are known and have been reported . Ctrl-L is no longer trustworthy, and the accepted workaround is to log on with a player or dummy account in a separate window to test lighting. I believe the All players seeing light was introduced last week and is a consequence of using DL and AFoW in conjunction. The current workaround is to turn off AFoW. Both of these bugs, especially the second one, have been designated high priority fixes, but there seems to have been little progress from the users' point of view. Perhaps the fix is more complicated than it seems.
I did not have the FoW or AFoW turned on in any maps. I never use it.

Ah, I never use it either, hence my hesitation. Try the alternate log-on method (be sure to give your alt permission to control the character in question). The all players seeing light issue should prove to be a Ctrl-L phantom. Sorry for the confusion. There are a number of DL and AFoW fixes in the works and I might have mixed them up.
Aha, yes, using a dummy account shows that the Sight is as it should be, thank you. I was unable to see the other tokens' light. Sure would be nice if they can fix this, though...having to log out and back in with a separate account just to check sight is rather a pain in the butt.

I agree. However, I've gotten used to checking this way for other reasons. Keeping two windows open is less time-consuming than rejoining as player, and it gives you exactly what a player would see. You cannot see through Fog of War or items on the GM layer with a separate log-in. Pro Tip: I just came up with this one yesterday. If you have a Pro account, you can use a Token Mod macro to quickly assign the dummy account to the "Controlled By" field of any token. This allows you to quickly update the dummy account view for any given token. Create a separate macro to remove the account from the token. I keep both these buttons on my Utilities chat menu.

Instead of logging out and back in with the other account, log in to the other account using whichever of chrome or Firefox that you do not use for your main account. Then you can log in to both simultaneously and see the results in real time (better with two monitors).

I use a private browsing window for the second account.
