Hi Everyone! So I've been running a "play when you can/want to" Dungeonworld group for a while for a bunch of people, but I've always been a bit too nervous to ask along people who I didn't know. However, as a few people have dropped out for a session this week, I thought this would be the perfect time to ask the community, who after further reading in the forums all seem so nice! :) The idea of the campaign is that it is set on an unexplored island, full of strange surroundings and wierd creatures, but one which is slowly being settled by groups of people from the empire. Each session a party of adventurers goes out into the unexplored world, usually following some rumour of riches, and braves whatever is out there. I'll admit I have been influenced by "Rollplay: West Marches", but with slightly fewer gross monsters (though I loved the gross monsters in that show, I don't think I could do them justice!) As a group we try to be friendly and inclusive, and because I'm usually the only one to invite people to the group (with a few exceptions), most people didn't know each other when they started out playing. Some people in the group still haven't played in the same session as each other. So being new there is no problem, and players new to Dungeonworld are also more than welcome (it's a fairly simple system). As a GM I'm fairly new, having run around 10 or so games so far, and unfortunately as I work in theatre the sessions are not regular. Usually however they take place on a Sunday afternoon (British time) whenever I'm able to run one. I chose Dungeonworld as a system because it's narrative focus on story and combat means the party can feel like they've achieved much in the session, rather than a fight potentially taking up most of the time. I found this works very well when a party will start and finish the session in the same place. I do however make their actions take effect on the surrounding world.
