Player Notification when Journal is Updated

I use the journal a lot  (like a lot of other GMs I'm sure). It's a brilliant tool, and the entire world I've been building up for nearly four years is documented in there, with everything from world history to random NPCs. I update it regularly, several times a week, but my players have no way of knowing what specific handouts or characters I've updated or added since we last played, so they don't know to look at them. A lot of my time and hard work goes to waste because of this. Obviously, I tell them I've updated things but it would be a lot easier if there was a widget, notification, or tool on the journal that directed them to the specific item that has been created or added to, to help GMs and help with the in-world/game experience.

There is an API script (pro feature) called "Message of the Day" that you could use to notify your players when they enter the game room what was updated. Put a short summary and the handout link in the message so they would know what and where to look then you could just make a post in the game forums to notify your players there was an update.
If you don’t want to use an API, since the players journals are organized by you, just make a new handout folder. Then move the handouts to whatever category they belong in after your players have had a chance to read them.
