Update: Tentative starting time @ 18:30 EST. Description: The year is 1526, of our Cormyr Reckoning. Or 1501 of the Dale Reckoning, if you use that heathen calendar. For most folk in central Faerun, the notion of a human country is inextricably linked to the Kingdom of Cormyr. It is a strong realm-- protected by a loyal army (the Purple Dragons), a cadre of magicians (the War Wizards), and numerous wealthy noble families. While the kingdom may be recovering from a recent war with Sembia and Netheril, the pride of victory remains strong within Cormyrean society. According to the Calendar of Harptos, it is the month of Elient (The Fading) and the Highharvestide Feast will be soon. Which is yet another yearly excuse for the villagers of Gray Oaks to get drunk and celebrate. The night, as always, is expected to kick off with the opening of the last-years' casks of cranberry wine. Traditionally, each and every festival-goer would receive a glass of this wine to celebrate. Also traditionally, some ne'er-do-wells don terrible disguises to try and snag a second glass. All in all, it is a fun atmosphere. In addition to food and music, there are games and competitions set up around the field-- tests of wit, skill, and strength. Prizes included. But that is just the beginning of the fun. As a moderate-sized farming community, the villagers use this opportunity to invite nearby adventurers and Knights of the Purple Dragons in the hopes to solve problems. Those that do well might find themselves with a _different_ job to do. House Rules: I Will Kill You : I cannot say this enough. I will not TRY to kill you... but I will let you get in WAAAY over your head and I will not hold back the badguys. Expect to go into debt to revive someone... or prepare a different character. Chaotic Stupid and Murder Hobos are Unwanted : There are so many ways a game can go wrong. Try not to ruin anyone else's fun. Rule of Cool: If you want to use a spell or ability in a creative way, ask. If it's cool or nifty... or if it is somehow tied to the story, about 90% of the time I'll let you. Just try not to break the game; what happens once might not happen twice. No Counterspell: In this game, 'Counterspell' is unavailable and cannot be used. Critical Failures / Success: You can critically succeed (20) or fail (1), except when it comes to saving throws. Getting a 20 or 1 on those rolls simply means you either fail or succeed. No Passive Perception: Passive perception will not be used. Instead, you will be asked to roll "something" to determine the result. No Lucky or Halfling Luck: No feat involving 'luck' is available in this game. This also extends to the Wizardly "Portent" ability.
