Newbie in search of some d&d training

Hello there! I am completely new to tabletop rpgs, but have always been interested. I've never played a game before, but and willing and open to learn. For the moment I am interested in d&d to start off with.  I've never used this site or online games such as this before but have heard good things from a few people. Everyone I know who actually plays doesn't have the time or our schedules don't match to be able to teach me. If there are any groups willing to take me in and show me the ropes it would be awesome. Also tips or anything to steer me into the direction to get educated would be appreciated as well! I am a fast learner and eager to find out everything I can on how to play!
Imma get in on this Thread because I'm kinda in the same boat. Im in Australia (AEST), and 36 years old. With a life filled with Text based rpg chatrooms during the birthing of the internet, Warhammer Fantasy Tabletop battles, Magic the Gathering, a million rpg pc games over the years, somehow I never ended up learning to play DnD. If any GM out there is happy to run a game for some newbies I would be much obliged.
I have a session scheduled for Sunday, June 30th, at 3:00 pm Eastern Standard time.  I have 2 people already and could add others.  We will go thru Character Generation, Explanation of the Interface, Explanation of D&D 5E, and explanation of the Character sheet and how to use it.  Then we will embark on a starter adventure to allow you to see the whole thing in action.  PM Me if you are interested and I will send you an invite.
