Only the general community forums can be followed even though there is a button showing in the LFG and game forums. Those can not be followed. If you are applying to a game and want to track the game you applied to, you have to make a bookmark till you get accepted. Once accepted into a game, you will get notifications for any post made in that game's forums.

Those buttons on the LFG and game forums were placed there at the beginning of Roll20 but never been activated nor removed. Think appendix (something there but useless in function) and you get the idea.

It would seem to a non coder a simple thing to fix but without knowing how intertwined the code is, it is a guess. I joined the site back in '12 a few months after it went public.
