SUMMARY: We are looking for more players so we have a regular weekly game with no cancellations, even with drop-outs. I have an rule of playing with a minimum of 3 players (based on experience), and due to player illnesses (a little one starting daycare - an illness factory), work, pregnancy, and moving homes, we have had a rash of players being out. It sucks because everyone really wants to play and they stay up-to-date based on the Chronicle (published notes). Because this game is on a fully detailed world, and I love customizing things and making mash-ups of adventures from a wide range of resources(I have been DMing for 30+ years, carrying players from 1st to 30th level in 2nd Edition)... my players say its fun because its nearly impossible to metagame. No monster really is like whats in the Monster Manual. My personal joy is allowing the dice to decide, I have a loose script but the dice can make anything happen. Suprise is even a big part of things for me. I am also way in to archaeology and history, I want to convey the feel of what it would be like to actually live in the middle ages; and I am constantly dropping realisms into the game. BTW in our game, people bathe. Peasants only stopped bathing in the Middle Ages after the Black Death... they erroneously thought the water contracted the disease. VOICE: Using Discord BRIEF QUESTIONS: What is your age, name, and timezone? Can you tell me a little about your experience in D&D, and what aspect of the game turns you on? CAMPAIGN NOTES (The Chronicle): This has some notes missing from the last two sessions, but we'll catch you up no problem. Simple times, and you are inexperienced. Prepare to die!** A mature (ages 30+) game of mixed experience 5e D&D, some with 30+ years experience, some with little. We have been playing this never-ending campaign for more than a year, with characters at an average of 5th Lvl. **The Middle Ages: Low Tech, Hidden Magic** This campaign is as close to the real-life Middle Ages as we can get (+magic and monsters), perfect for low-level characters looking to become heroes. In Harn the human populace is technologically about halfway between being in [feudal city-state kingdoms] (https://www.ducksters.com/history/middle_ages_feudal_system.php), and [barbarian tribal kingdoms] (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/24/4e/50/244e50ee9c9e56dc4c5724dc1b7b31a9.jpg). The technology of Hârn has barely progressed beyond the iron age. There are some examples of plate armor — though these tend to be small pieces for arm and leg protection. Leather, scale mail, and chain mail are all common. Agriculture is rudimentary and inefficient. Crossbows exist but are not used, because they are dishonorable weapons requiring no skill. Silver coin is the only currency, many have never seen a gold piece. The barbarian areas are very much like the [Celtic tribes] (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/56/5f/77/565f77fa1040fcc5db2dabd5f98b9db4.jpg), in Europe around Roman times. The feudal areas are very much like the late middle ages 9th-14th century Britain. **Feudal Honor** The rules of conduct are the core of civil society. The keystones of Feudal Society are the unwritten laws of *loyalty, family, hospitality, and honor*. These customs are part of the lives of all nobles from childhood on. These laws precede and underlie all noble interaction, and are to be respected even between enemies. Honor is required of all knights, but not of everyone else. Having honor is one of the things that sets a knight apart from all others. It is conceivable that a knight could cheat and connive, but still maintain his own sense of honor as long as the oath of knighthood was never violated. Honor includes a code of integrity, pride, and dignity, which is important enough to be backed up by force of arms. While there is a lot of personal definition to this, certain acts are basic and acknowledged by all as dishonorable: Attacking an unarmed Knight Cowardice Desertion from military service Plundering a holy place Killing an unarmed holy person Killing, kidnapping, or raping a noblewoman Breaking an oath Treason against your lord Treachery against the family Killing a kinsman Loss of knightly status (degredation) **Magic** Magic is rare, and hidden. Magic from the gods is understood and accepted by the faithful - but not magic from any other source. Wizardly magic here is an “unseen force”; in other words, most spell effects are invisible. Anyone using magic to cause harm to another can be accused of “witchcraft”, and the punishment is death - as is the punishment for most crimes unless a [weregild] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weregild) can be paid. The first law of the hidden magic societies is “Bring not the scorn of ordinary folk upon thy brothers.” Most open practitioners of magic are burned at the stake as witches by the overwhelming culture of superstition unless they are protected by someone powerful and royal. **Player Characters** Here, you are born... rolling randomly racial (90% chance you will be human), background, and profession tables. Wirth such an extremely detailed world, you will have a life and history **Intro Map, Check it out!** [Harn Poster] (http://columbiagames.com/resources/5001/Harn-map-back-web.pdf)
