Hello, thanks for taking the time if you are reading this. I've been working on a hybrid card/dice RPG system in my spare time. I'm not a professional game designer, but I have a lot of experience in tabletop and as a DM for just over a decade, and I wanted to make my own system purely for the fun of it. For my system, dice rolling is the core of game mechanics, but cards are used to add strategy, and as probability control for the rolls. World lore is not yet fully developed, but there are some basics I can share for the setting. My hope is for the system to be fairly accessible, with a "build your own class" approach to abilities. I want it to be a bit more involved, and more lethal than DnD5e. For playtests, we will use a low fantasy industrialist city setting, with flintlock-style firearms available (but most weapons being the typical medieval stuff). There is a fair bit of Victorian-era industrialism influence, in a fantasy world. Magic does exist, but is very rare, and extremely dangerous (still nailing down the magic system, first playtests may be magic-free). I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Shadowrun, and shows like Penny Dreadful and Peaky Blinders. I will build an urban environment for the playtests, with storylines and characters revolving around politics, police, gangs, and organized crime within the city, all under the fantasy setting veneer. The party will be a crew for hire of sorts, trying to make money or a name for themselves, choosing what factions to help (or raising your own faction). Scenarios will be varied for the sake of playtesting, but not entirely unconnected to a central storyline. A play session may resolve much like a Shadowrun session, obtaining a mission, planning, executing the mission, and then resolving the aftermath. Obviously, as a game in such an early stage, massive revisions and changes may be made. Many things may be imbalanced, and a Character Trait you took because it was strong may get nerfed. I may even make changes on the spot, mid combat. I will encourage players to have multiple characters, using different ones periodically. Play to have fun, not to win, and there should be no frustrations. This is meant to be a pretty casual play testing group. I'll expect feedback of some kind after playing, but I won't be breathing down your necks asking you to analyze every little bit of the game. For those wishing to look at the details, here are the rules. They are always undergoing revisions and changes, but you can see them in their current state at the following links: Fundamental Rules https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YglQuBajtNlZixqdSF7ym-5nOz9LlYKZpPp2Xybr80E Weapons/Armor https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mLz8cbViDB4X-jF00fXPvV3dXwOrFHFP3UVVU-3DW30 Character Traits (very incomplete) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CEcPuEvf7NVRoKVrDDQMLlNZyE9MEL70r7U5yF5g7O4
