Option to stop logging chat when only DM is in a campaign?

I do a lot of the setup inbetween sessions. One of those setups involves creating macros for enemies and those macros create log-entries in the chat. I don't want my players reading the potentially spoily logs for enemies they havent met yet. And i don't deem "delete the logs" a valid option. ;)
I'm guessing you don't consider creating them all as gm rolls, then changing them to regular rolls when they are finished, a valid option either.... I have wished (on occasion) there were a way to selectively edit/clear part of the chat log, but your idea would work too...
