22/10/2019 - 2 SLOTS LEFT and this Saturday will be the first session! 24/10/2019 - 1 SLOT LEFT! Starting this Saturday! 05/11/2019 - 1 SLOT OPEN! Due to a change in circumstances one player has had to drop out. The campaign is two sessions in and the party has only just entered the Undermountain. Still a great time to join! Just to quickly preface this post, this is a paid for group. Due to work/life balance if I did not charge I would not be able to invest as much time to being the best GM I can be for you people. I have been successfully running paid groups for over 12 months now on Roll20 and have 3 very happy long term groups, and I hope to make this a 4th on Saturdays! I am a firm but fair GM, and what people say they enjoy most of my games is how I am able to adjust modules and their storylines to better fit player characters into the world. With that said the first session of the campaign will be completely free to let you get a feel of me as a GM! Game listing: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/178645/dungeon-of-the-mad-mage-quick-start-descend-into-the-world-of-dandd The Module The Mad Mage and his treasure is more of a rumour than anything, something that manages to trick whole swathes of adventurers to enter into the Undermountain. Although occasionally there are a few adventurers that come out rich beyond their wildest dreams! Much to the joy and jubilation of the local patrons, as the main entrance is located within the bustling Yawning Portal Inn. The pub never lacks for rich benefactors looking to sponsor groups of adventurers to enter deeper into the Undermountain, a large multi-level mega dungeon residing under the greatest city of Faerûn, Waterdeep. For the meagre fee of a single gold coin the local patronage will lower you down the old well that leads directly into the Undermountain. However, the locals will laugh when you mention the name "Halaster", as he's simply a scary story they tell their children to get in before dark. As there are much more realer and deadlier threats that the locals won't talk about. " Undermountain? Ah yes, a great place to have fun, the most famous battlefield in which to earn a reputation as a veteran adventurer - and the largest mass grave in Faerûn today. " Elminster of Shadowvale So who will you work for? Who will you trust? As the most friendly of people may not have your best interest in heart... Meaning you may have your own personal reasons to embark into the Undermountain. What is Quick Start? This is something I have used during my many years as a GM. It is the perfect way for new players to get into the game and not feel overwhelmed by choice. When you join you will receive an hour of my time when it suits you. We will talk through potential characters and find something that individually suits you. No need to pore over every book. Even experienced players will make use of this, as when the day of the session comes everyone will be ready to go! No need to spend more than 30 minutes of the first session finalising characters. About The game I run will be approximately 50% game mechanics, 30% roleplay, 20% puzzles. This is one of the more difficult modules 5e has to offer. There is very little that is unfair but one small mistake can lead to permanent injuries or death. However, if death does happen a new character can just be dropped straight in, so keep you creative muscles flexing by thinking up potential new adventurers! Now it is a lot of dungeon exploring but there is plenty of space for roleplaying with the denizens/factions withing and their is also entire city of Waterdeep to set up base and discover. So it will not just be a constant slog of fights and puzzles. There are plenty of of "quests" to pick up, many personal ones but also ones for the whole group. These will come from the NPCs you find in the Yawning Portal Inn as well as within the Undermountain itself. This will be almost entirely based upon the module, so please don't look ahead, however as a good GM there will be many homebrewed scenarios and adventure hooks. As well as customised battle-maps from paid for Patreon artists. If you're sick and tired of just playing characters from level 1 to 6 over and over again. This is the campaign for you, able to try out and experience higher levels of play. As this is looking to be a permanent long term campaign, get in at the ground floor and let you character blossom! Game Information When : Played Weekly Saturdays 7PM BST (2pm EST) (Time is flexible, I am trying new time slots!) How Long : 3-4 Hour Sessions. These may overrun, if there are major time constraints please let me know before hand Communication : Discord, Microphone Required Starting Level : 3 (Leading onto a full campaign up to 20!) Party Size : 5 Cost : £10 per session paid via paypal As per Roll 20s code of conduct "This game will require payment of £10 per session paid to the game master via paypal to participate. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements." First session will be free and include finalisation of character creation! Building Your Character •Start at level 3 •Use any Race/Class from any officially printed WoTC Book. • Stats will be generated using either "point buy" or "standard set" of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 •You will part of an elite party but your character MUST have a reason to be with a group of other adventurers. So, no lone wolves or "evil" characters. However, there are no restrictions on alignment but your character should not be the cause for excessive friction or drama. "Just because it's what my character would do" is not an excuse for bad behaviour. • The character creation will be finalised in the first session Many GMs will place much stricter limitations on character creation, however I believe DnD 5E is very much balanced as is. So, I like to give as much creative freedom as possible. Plus my many years experience with the system has given me a fine eye for designing encounters to highlight the parties strengths while challenging their weaknesses. As stated before this module will be challenging but not unfair. There is more information contained on the listing but this post is already running pretty long! If you're interested just drop a post below and I'll get in contact with you or alternatively go through to the group listing link and post in the application thread!
