SSO world, Faction Starships only mini-battle game?

So I have been wanting to try out some starship mini-battles based off the SSO Singularity Space Opera world. I was wondering if folks had an interest in this, or any ideas for it. The Basic General ideas concept ---- Players choose a Faction group to play. Each Player controls a space station or small world or colony within a region of their chosen Faction. IE a small part of that regions Territory. Each Player has a small fleet of starships and transports ( or trade ships) that they control. Players get 1 movement or action a week that they send in as a turn. Or if we play a more detailed game, we would meet and play out a battle between players fleets. Starships would have simple stats **Hitpoints / Structure Points **Shields or Armor **Weapons - Weapon range ** Movement range Planets , regions or space stations would have stats for ** Hitpoints or Structure points ** Defenses ** Manufacturing ** Economy The purpose would be for players to take over different areas, try trade and politics between each other, fight starship battles, trade or build ships. It would also be additional fun content to add to the game, I would like to have players play out bigger space battles between faction armies or fleets in the SSO world. I thought it might be a fun idea. Comments? Suggestions? Would you like to try it?

It might have an impact on in game things. That was one of my original ideas for this, that we would play out some large scale battles going on , and leave the story up to players ( in general) and the actions ( victories or losses ) that happen during the starship battles. Example - A Terran fleet fights some Morblin fleet and the Terrans win, gaining a new foothold in that region. Or maybe some Vampiric starships try a raid on a Terran system, like Port Titania where current players are gaming. The Vampiric win, and become a threat to players now. Either way, news of the battle will be heard by the players. This would be an extension of the more personal player and GM game. Players might get to make a General or Admiral or something maybe, another NPC / PC in the Verse to create events unassociated with peoples personal Player Characters.

I will be trying to work out some basic ideas and layouts for this mini battle stuff during the game downtime as I move. Ill be using some friends computers an etc for the time being, but I hope to use some of the mini battle and mini games to help shape the RolePlaying part of the campaign / players current world.

mini-starship battle rules and play concepts --- As the starship battle game progresses, commanders will have the ability to make Scout ships, Combat ships, and Heavy combat ships like dreadnaughts. Merchant types like transports and trade ships or supply ships I think will also be allowed. space stations or bases commanders will have or can create, will be prolly of 3 types. Military combat outpost or starbase, Merchant / trade outpost or station, and a Economic or Population world or moon/station type of colony. As I work more on the game, I will break up the Verse map into smaller sections, each with a outpost or something, for players to take control over. Each region will have economy points, which commanders can use to buy or make new ships, and such. Those are some of the general ideas currently. EXAMPLE of merchant Zeniri ship Speed - Armor - Shields - Weapons- Wpn Range - Structure Hull - Build Cost Zeniri 5 5 2 0 0 5 cost 17 Minimum ship stats - Scout ships etc. Speed - Armor - Shields - Weapons- Wpn Range - Structure Hull - Build Cost 1 0 0 0 0 1 - cost 2 Starship Customizations IDEAS 2- methods. Commanders may customize ships by changing their stats, ie moving stat points around. But they may not increase stat points. Example Evanrill - reduce armor by 2 and increase speed by 2. Overall stat points remain the same. Ship cost remains the same. Maximum for any custom stat is max 6. Commanders may make new custom ships. A commander may purchase up to 5 additional stat points for a custom ship. However each additional stat point costs 2 build points. Increasing the cost of ships. The mas of any custom stat is max 6. Just basic ideas, what do you think? Build points come from areas or space regions commanders control. Each area under their control has a number of economy or build type points. From resources in that region. REGIONS The goal is to control the Verse!
