Join a game is like banging my head against the wall.

I would really like to join a 5e game. All the games the get posted I have to apply like it's a job and I never EVER get a response. I've been a GM for 3 years and I'm tired of being stuck in that role. I would really like to join a group. This is the pc I wanna run with Name:David Smith / Nova SolarFlare. Discord: Mistersinister#9752 Combat or Roleplay I love both! What's a good game without either? Roleplay style assistive/ depends on the personality of my PC at the time. But ALWAYS team player Race Aasimar protector Class Life Cleric Personality mothering, fish out of water, Tender pacifist(dedicated healer) sympathetic to the injured and oppressed. Background acolyte. Cleric of illmater. (Dedicated healer) The reason you think you'd be best to join / why you want to I love assisting others to make the party greater than the total sum of it's parts. I encourage ideas in my team mates and do what I can to support them so that we may accomplish our goals. I want to join because I would love to take part in game. I have been a dungeon master for the last three years and have been stuck in an almost permanent dungeon master roll. To boot my players are all students and have a very unconcistent schedule and are flaky on top of that. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
*available Saturday evenings mostly
What times on Saturday?
I feel your pain.
I run a 3.5 noob game if you'd like to try it. There's a thread on this forum. Let me know if that's of interest to you. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7908950/lfp-3-dot-5-home-brew-noob-game
Try wanting to DM a game other than 5E or Pathfinder on this website. It takes months sometimes to get a full party.

Well I can say as a GM about half of the “full party seeks GM” tables I set up have the parties ghost even the session 0. :) I don’t let it get to me, life happens and many folks just don’t consider spending 10 seconds to send a message saying ‘sorry cannot make it’ to be a priority. That’s on them, not the folks who show up or know how to send a message. Just make it a point to not re-invite folks who show their unreliability. That’s why I created a couple of groups where we are all GMs (they are full). We know how much effort goes into the labor of love so we do our best to treat others with the same respect we want. It may take a while but keep at it and eventually it pays off... Oh we don’t do 5E though sorry.

Hey, David, if you're free sometime Sunday, might be interested in a smaller, 1 or 2 person game, and there's a little flexibility in the character concept, I'm trying to start something a little different over here . More intrigue, less adventure, set in Tal'Dorei. If that might be something you're interested in, drop me a message or reply in that thread.
I luv DM'ing but I hate using the dice bot and electronic character sheets, so it is very tough trying to find players that want to forgo the electronic bits and just play with real dice and paper. Finding a solid group is also very time consuming. It usually takes 3 to 4 months to finally get a solid group up and running. I am amazed at how many sensitive people are out there ( I'm an old Marine, so sensitivity is not my strong suit) lol.
I used to really struggle at finding groups. I would scour this LFG forum for hours and find nothing. Then I started noticing which posts got A LOT more attention than mine and I looked at what they did differently than I. Mostly, they included a lot of details on their availabilities, the system they are willing to play, their age, etc. Basically, they said a lot more than just "looking for a game for 5E". They'd introduce themselves. Clear text with meat in it. Since I've been doing that, if I want to find a game as a player I usually succeed inside of a week. Rarely had to wait for more than that. We have to realize that here is the same as the majority of communities/web sites/social networks: the majority of people are lurkers. They look, but they don't show themselves. People taking the time to come up with a good player intro usually find games very quickly. I know that I personally end up able to chose between multiple games ...
You are really limiting your chances when you are saying you want to get into a game using a specific character, you are essentially eliminating all the games that already have a Cleric in them. Try getting in the game before discussing the actual character you want to play.
Finding groups can definitely be challenging, especially if you're looking for something in particular (like you can only play on certain days, want to use some UA, or will only play if certain classes are available). Even more frustrating is when you find a group that looks promising but things fall apart. =(
