Comprehensive tile sets

I am looking for good tile sets. Right now I need wilderness/forest/village types. I only run homebrew. I have seen several good artists but most of it includes the premade maps which I don't really want. Are there just tiles sets out there or am I stuck buying dozens of premade maps to get pieces of tile sets? I would even be willing to commission some if nothing is available on the market. Thanks everyone!
Forgotten Adventures has some good forest tile sets. Did you check any subreddits to see if artists released tile sets to your making? Wizards has some tile sets included with some pregen maps. The marketplace has over 1,000 things, I'm sure there is a tile set somewhere in there.
The marketplace is indeed expansive. I was hoping to save myself some digging by asking the experts for some pointers. I actually purchased the Wizards atlas product and it does have some tile sets, but nothing close to what was used to create the pregens included with it. I really should have done more research before purchasing it, but rookie (in the digital tools realm) mistake. So far the only one I have seen is a series called Vile Tiles. I will keep digging. Thanks!

For your categories, I mostly use things made by: Meditating Munky: https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/155/meditating-munky Gabriel Pickard (who does the vile tiles you mentioned): https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/64/gabriel-pickard And David Hemenway (mostly buildings with little wilderness content): https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/publisher/132/david-hemenway I'm sure there are others with some good stuff in the marketplace as well. Good luck with your search!

There are so many more Tile Sets than premade maps. I know because I watch for pre-made maps of large sizes, kinda the opposite of the tiling idea, myself. And I comb through a LOT of tile based sets to find them. Next time i recognize a really high-value set I'll bring a link over here.
If you play d&d, the stuff from Mike schley or Venatus might be a good choice. They are not available on roll20 so you will need to upload them.
I can't recommend Gabriel Pickard's map packs any higher for customization. He makes packs themed after a topic like a forest mapper that gives you trees, bushes, logs rocks and various flat background terrains to make the forest any way you'd want. His Vile Tile series give you the most for customization but his cave builder packs are very detailed as well. Another thing I like about Gabriel's packs is you see others charging 5 bucks or more for a basic bare bones pack that leaves little for customization but Gabriel fills his mapping packs with on average 300 plus items to decorate the map however you see fit. Definitely give his vile tiles and save vs cave sets a look. They not only have environmental stuff to build but also sets to make custom homes and castles.

I wholeheartedly endorse Gabriel's map and tile packs. On the average, each of his marketplace packs run 200+ tiles as he packs all the tiles he uses to create those premade maps with. Once you have two or three of his packs that are of the same theme, you can build all types of maps.
I want to start by thanking everyone for their advice. I wound up going through all 50 current pages of tile sets to do research. I found many artists I liked although I found out that by selecting tile sets in the marketplace I was limiting my selection too much. Some sets are not included there and you are safer, once you select an artist, to search for them without filters to get all their work. For comprehensive Gabriel Pickard, Meditating Munky and Brass Badger Workshop were all great. For a hand drawn look, Joshua Watmough, has fantastic art although not quite as vast a selection. Yuikani has some very nice cartoon style sets. Russ Hapke has a more classic map style that's awesome. All in all I can see selecting any of them and it's proving to be a difficult decision. I wish I had unlimited funds and could purchase all of them as they each add a special element to any GM's story, but I will have to limit myself and build up a collection slowly. I am very grateful to all the artists that have shared their work here!

Great review of the overall Marketplace selections in this field. Thanks for putting in the pages and sharing that, Paul S. Good advice too about going to the Artist page by clicking on an artist's name in the Market.
I dont know if I'm late to the post, but I'm gonna open my, by light years, favourite artist around there. 2 MINUTE TABLETOP. ( https://www.2minutetabletop.com/ ) This artist, this lord of maps, this beast, this monster, this sacrifice to the light, this GENTLEMEN gives away most of his maps FOR FREE. Not only that, but he has a huge load of assets, an incredible and stunning colection that you can upload to your roll20 library and build the maps to your liking because what he basically do is let you build your map as a puzzle using the pieces as if you were drawing the maps with his style. Of course, you cannot sell the maps you do with this method, since he gives away for free the assets just for your own games or sharing them for free. Here, see what you can do with the material, these two are from my own, using the assets mentioned above.
Those are nice. I actually have zero intention of selling any maps or modules. I am using them only for my own campaigns. I have been thinking of trying a paid for campaign as I have seen a few GMs that do that, but I am having a little trouble maintaining a good voice chat connection. That's probably a topic for another forum thread though.
