[Homebrew Campaign] 3 Players LFG [Flexi Weekly/Bi-Weekly Sessions]

Edited 1584582494
Hello all, Thank you for taking the time to check out this thread; I hope you are all doing wonderfully c: We are only looking for a DM at this time. Game: D&D 5e (Preferably a homebrew world/campaign with inspiration/use of Forgotten Realms lore.) Group preferred: Online (Discord for voice & video. Roll20 for combat scenarios. D&D Beyond is a plus, but not necessary.) Experience: Newish, but capable and well read up on the system (been playing/learning for around 7 months now.) Location/Timezone: England (GMT+0) & Italy (GMT+1) Availability: Weekdays from around 7PM to 11PM & Weekends all day (11PM on Sunday at the latest.) Ideally weekly/bi-weekly sessions. - Our friend's work hours are going to be changing to shifts soon so if possible we'd like to be able to be flexible with our sessions during the requested period of weekly/bi-weekly, in order for him not to miss any sessions if it can be helped. We could have a Discord server and arrange our sessions with everyone's schedules in mind for the following week and such, we basically just need people who are fairly flexible on when we play. (Its not expected that you're free EVERY night, EVERY week. But the ability to be able to fit this game into your schedule, whether on a weekday evening or a weekend day, is imperative.) Preferred role: Players Game style: My brother, friend and I are currently looking for a like minded group of people to play a long term, homebrew campaign with through Roll20 (for combat scenarios) & Discord (for voice & video.) We're very RP heavy players who absolutely love character interactions and development, with a good understanding of mechanics, who thrive in a rich world of deep lore and intrigue and would very much like a DM who has the experience in this kind of storytelling. We'd also like to recruit a few more players (up to 5/6 people for the group in total, depending on DM preference.) We're hopeful to work with a DM that can integrate our character backstories into the world and put a great deal of thought into character arcs along with the main story of the game, as well as with other like minded players who are interested in similar gameplay. (We are not interested in dungeon delving for the sake of greed or loot and without a plot hook, nor are we murderhobos :p) Ages: We would also like to make a note that all of us are 24+ in age, and would like players of a similar age group or older due to dark subject matter, violence and any other such mature content that could be included in the campaign. (We're all a fan of dark, gritty universes and feel that this may be unsuitable for younger players, as well as it would just make it easier to have players around a similar age to befriend. Hopefully that makes sense!) Rolling: In terms of dice rolling, we'd like to be able to roll our own dice at home rather than using a bot of any kind. We're trustworthy players and love being able to use our own dice collections c: Please drop me a reply below if this catches your attention with any interest as a player or a DM! We're very open and I would be happy to discuss this further with any interested parties either here or on Discord. (Please PM me asking to exchange Discord information, or post your own for me to add in order to continue our conversation.) Thank you for reading and take care! Steph / Peachy
Hi there, I see your preferred style is voice/video with Discord. So this offer is probably not something you'd be interested in. However, I am starting a dark gritty Play by Post Midnight campaign. Midnight is a unique campaign setting in which it takes place in a world where the evil bad guy won. If you are interested take a look over here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/198895/midnight-crown-of-shadow-3-dot-5

Best of luck with it though!
Your looking for 5E. I run 1/2E mostly 1E was thinking of starting up a "Merc Campaign Setting" in my Homebrew World. I do use Game Modules and Dungeon/Dragon magazine mini short modules from time to time. But normally, they are my Homebrew stuff, and my big plot lines are my own. Discord Voice, Roll20 mechanics and I tend to write up Game presentations often with graphics. 18+ only for Player interactions and sometimes the art work I use is normally has nudity.... I prefer Role Playing over Roll Playing. RP is awesome but yes some fighting also required. Most of my normal players are on odd times from my Campaign game, that just ended 2 weeks ago. Though some may join. I find the worst thing as GM is When can Everyone Meet up to play? I also find even Once a week, to be not enough. So many Roll20 people are involved in soo many games. Saying that, I have short term 1E Tutorial game I run on Friday nights and have been playing in a number of other games since my own Campaign finished. Playing is a welcome change from GMing but I think I'm ready to get back into it. I have a few players that might want to play; again getting "What Day and Time of the week" down is always the most important. Right now I'm available pretty much anytime. So what I am saying is if you three want to get into playing I'm happy to do it. If you don't mind 1/2 E AD&D what day or days can you play?
Hi there Peachy ! I am 27 years old. I have played 5E a couple of times but always during a oneshot. I like dark topics and getting involved in the story. I also enjoy balance between combat and role playing. If you start the campaign soon let me know, I have plenty of time now due to quarantine!! And after that I can make time to play twice a week.

Hello Cin, Thank you very much for your message and taking the time to look over my post (: Unfortunately, we're only interested in 5e as that's the only system we know well. I really appreciate you taking the time to post though and wish you the best of luck with your games!

Hey José, I'll keep you in mind if we find anything, though I will say that its likely that we will only be able to play once a week or once every two weeks, and it will depend when everyone is free as to what day those sessions will take place (it will most likely change from session to session as well.)
Thanks for the reply Peachy I have a number issues with 5E as a system. But, not listing them out here, only the one I think you will like. 5E starts players at level 1, as if they have been adventuring for years (Us old timers call it WOW for table top) and now your character is with this group or at a Tavern to meet the group go kill stuff. As GM all my players start off at 1st level or I have even done -1 level. You are at your Family's farm, or in a town where your parents own a shop.. where ever that starting thing is. You build your back story and background in game, a few things from dice help this and what makes sense for where I'm starting the group. Many ways to kick a PC off into a new vocation, Tragedy is normally what makes people change their fate. From Orcs slaughtering your family and burning your farm while your in the fields. Grab the family Long sword off the burnt fire place mantle and take some revenge!. To an evil mayor or bank owner foreclosing on your families shop. Something pushes the PC from cozy life into adventure's life, and work with the PCs on what they see for their character. It has been the number one issue with 5E there is no start of the character. Even if you try to adapt it, the numbers and stats; you aren't some helpless kid, the game makes the class pretty ubber. Last 5E game I GMed i made all the Orcs and Goblin's Barbarian class... suddenly the PCs had a challenge to their 1st level characters. Because 5E wasn't designed to challenge players. Kill 12 Kobolds make a level. Another point on 5E out of combat anything is useless it is designed for only combat. RP game; well not it's purpose All magic expires in 10 min or less, there are lots of magics: Charm Person, Raise Undead these can become plot hooks. It isn't a well thought out as a system, it isn't balanced at all. And they really missed the reality check.
Hi Peachy, 25 years old U.S. American with experience running 3.5 and 5e games. I've been running games mostly in person since high school and recently started DMing for pay part time on Roll20. I love RP heavy games and exploring some darker themes, but I enjoy including humor a lot as well. Whenever I've done homebrew, I try and integrate the character backstories as much as possible and am really used to having character driven stories. I like building sandbox worlds to play in, with enough detail to help move things forward and enough vagueness for players to add their own ideas, locations, people and so on. Very comfortable improvising. I'd be happy to chat more and hear/share some ideas about a long-term campaign. Message me if interested. Times work great for me.

Hello Joseph, Thank you for your message! I like what you said a lot, but I unfortunately don't think our time zones and what I'm looking for in terms of session day and time flexibility would work out. Best of luck with everything though and thank you again!

I've not had a problem with it as of yet personally, all of my characters start from nothing and end up in the group for some reason or another in the first session, or in some way thats worked out in a session 0. Or they start off as a very beginner in terms of adventuring, so they don't have a lot under their belt in terms of accomplishments and the like. But I can see what you mean, for sure (:

I'm on GMT -6:00 and do night classes on weekday evenings, so 7-11pm GMT or GMT +1 actually works really well for my schedule. Most of my time is doing schoolwork so I have a pretty flexible schedule and could open up a few days a week (weekdays or weekends) to play. As long as I get enough advance notice, flexible game times and days should be doable. Just let me know.

So I am kind of interested. Kind simply being because of the scheduling. My work schedule only allows me to play friday night, saturday, and/or sunday. I have very little experience. Enough to be dangerous. Ive only been able to start dragonheist 3 times, and for never more than 5 sessions each time. I have a druid with a slightly modified circle (dragonborne druid that looks human with a wolf companion), and a total HB character that is a hybrid of 2 races Changling/dragonborn druid with customized circle). Can use either if my time frame fits what you are looking for. Timezone is CDT (GMT-5)

I don't think it work work out, however, as we're trying to be flexible with session days and can't guarantee they'd always been running over the weekend. Plus with this restriction already for you, the time zones wouldn't work out either. I'm really sorry and best of luck with your search!
i appreciate it!

I recommend checking out a tutorial on youtube for the basics of Roll20; there are quite a lot of them and that's how I learned. I'm also pretty much a noob when it comes to using it, haha! UPDATE: We're currently only searching for a DM at this time. I've had lots of interest from players, but will currently be suspending player search as I have no game to offer them at this time. I will keep all player info who contact my and try to get back to you once the right DM has been found and hopefully we can go from there to recruit players.
