Family of Three - Never played before

Hi Adventurers! We have never played a RPG before; I'm not even sure if we should be looking at Roll20 or somewhere that rubes and newb's are banished to :) With corona-enforced free time, this seems like the perfect opportunity to learn. The paying part is fine; are there any games run more like a "RPG 101 - Welcome to Adventuring" sort of thing?
Hello! I think you'll be fine here, tho maybe include a bit about yourselves, what sort of game would spark your interest (Like... general fantasy like LotR, maybe Sci-fi? if you know a particular system, that'd help too) and when you would all be available to play. I can't guarantee I have something for you, but might make it easier to find some place to belong :)
Hey Kevin! I just posted a new game that is great for new players: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/204643/sword-coast-excursions We're starting with Lost Mines of Phandelver, which is an introductory adventure- the first one they published in 5e. Let me know if you're interested. You can send me a PM or apply in the listing. I'm more than happy to help you guys learn. Would be a blast!

Hey! I just DM as a hobby (I DM a game for some close friends, not charging of course, and I'm a player in another game myself), but depending on the time I could potentially run a session or two for you. A word of advice for you though regardless of who it is you decide to play with as your DM: DMs have different styles, some are better at this some are better at that. Different players will enjoy different DM styles more than others. Don't commit to a campaign (meaning, a game intended to last more than 2-3 sessions) without first playing a couple of self contained "one-shots" (games you can finish in one or two sessions tops) with that DM. Get a feel for how they DM, see if its something you and your family are enjoying, and then take up a longer form game with them. You don't want to finish chapter 3 of a book you thought sounded cool, then suddenly realise you don't like how the narrator is narrating and have to put the book down.
Thanks Barney! That's awesome advice!
Welcome to nerd-topia kevin if u cant find a dm let me know lots of us out here that would love to bring the fun of roleplay to ur family. I can run a Dungeon and dragons 5th edition game for yall easily.
Along with everyone else, let me welcome you, Kevin and family, to the world of ttrpgs! Hopefully you enjoy your stay and decide to stick around for years to come like the rest of us. Working with new players is something that I love to do. Not only do I get to share my love for these games with new people, oftentimes the fresh new look they bring into the game is more fun than what a group of veterans will do! I have had the opportunity to get many people started on this hobby, and many of them are people I still game with years later or have gone on to DM their own groups. I have a few different timeslots open, and would be happy to run a game for just you and your family. We can do a published introductory adventure like Lost Mines of Phandelver, or I can create a homebrew adventure just for you guys! If you are interested, check out the link below and see if it matches what you are looking for in a new rpg experience. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/8283702/lfp-5e-paid-wednesday-saturday-sunday-commissioned-character-artwork-included
