495 - Winter (From Backup)

This then is as far as I have backed up - and let's take a moment to thank Ross, without his suggestion that we ought to actually have backups, only a fortnight ago, we wouldn't even have this! I do have the rest, but for the moment, this was quote enough of a chore to upload. If I find a better way, I will. My memory is pretty wiped of events since this point, I think we were waiting for Ullin's Officer role, and I'm sure I saw some rolls for the next step... but we are officially rolled back to here + what we can remember.
Gareth G. said: Awareness + 2 taking it to 13 Flirting + 2 taking it to 5 - he seems to do so much of it, he must be getting better by now! Can you remind me what we do for Squires?  Just moving this reply to keep winter all in the same thread! Squires: Saves me having to type it all out :)
Dylan bumped his Battle to 15 and Twyla bumped her Awareness and Singing.  Do we have a place to keep character sheets online now, or do we just keep them ourselves?
Ah yes, I remember - I asked if you could only add points to the skills they already have or can you start a new one? And if you do, does it start at 0 (plus any points you added)
I did import custom character sheets, so I assume you are supposed to be able to keep them - most likely in the journal - can you create your characters in there? If so that's perfect, if not, ask me, I'll create them and give you editing rights You can start a new skill at 0 if it's a skill that character can have - for example, any knight can have an axe skill, any commoner too, but a commoner couldn't have a sword skill, and you can't open skills for technologies that don't exist - like halberds - without taking the opportunity via roleplay. If you think that a skill starting at 0 is not realistic, just ask - I will be very willing to allow a knight to open, say axe, or a common weapon skill higher, due to the sheer amount of training that would apply to their new skill.

No worries - I was just wondering.  I'm going to stick all 4 points on First Aid for Alceste. She spent a lot of time learning from those around her while Taron's wounds were tended after the battle.
How's that for "liking a post"?
How did you do that?
I believe you have to create a character in the journal tab for each of us - and then edit the permissions to allow us to see and edit our own ones.

I literally edited a picture into the bottom of Griffs post - I imagine I'm, the only one who can do that though Character sheets incoming for everyone!

Thanks Keith, I've put the battle record in the Journal, in the Year 495 folder, the full record is downloadable  - please check Sir Dylan's record, make sure it's all correct and let me know if you think anything that ought to add to your glory total has been overlooked. In addition, you earn 960 glory (60 per round x2 for victory) that I neglected to enter on the form, and 25 more for attending Rodericks funeral. Please remember that glory is capped at 1000 for any single event, and the battle is a single event so your full year's glory is 1025, but it's still worth highlighting any events worth glory during the battle for future roleplay!
Owain will increase his Horsemanship to 16 (it was a pretty nice bit of skill reaching Hogarth through the melee at St Albans after all). Kadylon squire skill +1 = 15; knightly skill +1 =6 Valens will increase his spear expertise to 18 Owallies squire skill +1 =10; knightly skill +1 = 5 Gath squire skill +1 = 18; knightly skill +1 = 7 Jiam will increase Sword to 19. Lakin squire skill +1 =10; knightly skill +1 = 4 Evas squire skill +1 = 18; knightly skill +1 = 7
Scribbs said: it was a pretty nice bit of skill reaching Hogarth through the melee at St Albans after all It certainly was!
For Dylan - I would call out that he had an impassioned speech to the troops mid-battle, to try and rally them after Hogarth went down. Might be a bit of glory for that? Also post-battle, perhaps some glory for taking command in the hall post-poisoning, as he was certainly noted for having done so.

Absolutely, let's say 15 glory for the speech, folded into the 1000 though and 40 for his taking charge which is separate and can be added to his total.
Sounds good - am I good to add yearly glory (and annual glory) and take any bonus points?
Yep, go on ahead
Ok - then that should be 1065 Glory from the Battle and the Feast and 127 annual glory which brings me to 3047 and 2 Glory Points! I will spend one to take Sword to 17, and one to take my Strength to 11
Your winter phase has finished, welcome to the new era!
Right. Im back and coming up to speed on this.
Hogarth having spent the year surveying Salisbury had discovered that a reason for the dearth of knights was the lack of children. His follow up question was, were all the manors and land being used? Hogarth also takes this time to visit the priests of each village, they are useful (Grand Pendragon Era) barometers.

There are vast tracks of wilderness in Salisbury, as there are in every county. The manors tend to line the rivers, roads or religious sites but even this fertile land isn't being fully utilised, there is plenty of space between each parcel of each knight's holdings that is not developed. I'm sure Hogarth himself understands the difficulty of establishing a new village however, given that he is attempting this himself at Cholderton. There is no shortcut. As for the manors themselves, they are nearly all full. While you might not have performed as well as you had hoped at St Albans, you did bring home nearly every knight who went and so continue to run at nearly full capacity. Only one manor stands empty with no heir who is not to be knighted in a year or two, and it is Sir Vorte's manor, now held by his father, the Earl of Jagent after his death at St Albans. He discovers a curious case, Draftbeck - a village who Earl Roderick granted the status of freemen, they were treated poorly by their knight and left his village. They built a new one, after their knight ignored several judgements of the Earl, who granted them freeman status so they could not be legally slaughtered by their old knight - though he did try several times. The knight in question is Sir Ogerious, it is rumoured he is being blackmailed, he squeezes his peasants constantly, he seems to take every opportunity to earn or take money but lives an impoverished lifestyle. The priests are generally welcoming, and indicate that very little is wrong - they all have their local concerns and politics - make an intrigue check for me.
How do I do that?
If you go back to the main game screen, click on launch game you get into the app. It gives you the instructions there for how to make a dice roll, make it and come back here. You don't need to post the results, when I see it I'll post the reply here (unless you want to narrate the result or have some input into it, then you are welcome to as usual). Don't forget to label your roll and include Hogarths Intrigue that you're rolling against - once you've filled in your character sheet, you'll be able to one click a roll against scores on the sheet I think.
I think my day of phone based rp may take a while to adjust. Glad you backed it up. Im looking at apps that convert image to text even from a screen. Might be a swifter way to rebuild the backup.
I have html of the site, I already have the text in digital form, I just have nowhere to host it - you can download the zip file of the backup from the google site
Sleepy Will said:  In addition, you earn 960 glory (60 per round x2 for victory) So we get this, plus the individual glory on the sheet, up to 1000?
Correct!
1000 Glory it is then! I'll fill my sheet in soon
I have rolled. (Frankly spending less time staring at my phone at this point can only be good.)
The priests and vicars in general have lost touch with the political landscape. With the loss of the king came the loss of movement between counties and they have been starved of information from outside Salisbury, however they are trying to give the impression that they are not worried about events in the larger lands of Britain and further afield that they are no longer privy too. No untoward copying of documents is going on.
Cool. When do we do Ordo?
