495 - Winter (From Backup)

When Sarum castle is open to you once more - unless you want to hold a meeting elsewhere. Shall I start a thread for Ordo business for you?
Yep!
Sorry, still trying to figure this interface out.  Admittedly, I just today have had free time to properly look into it. Ullin's Officer role (paraphrased because I cannot remember the RP for it...): He was frustrated by the mud and obstacles of the battlefield and hopes to get Salisbury knights experience in adverse conditions so they are less hindered by them in the future.  This would include inviting knights to Burcombe and using some of the mud from the Nadder widening to slop an empty unused patch of land for 'mud training'.  He does not abandon his efforts in training new formations, but the battle against mud (and the like) seems more pressing. He also inspects his herd to see if any of his stable seem to navigate mud better than others, especially while carrying a load.  He will ask the herdsman of his horses of this information as well. --------------- I think all I have left then is to do Experience Rolls?

Your experience rolls were earlier, now you add your glory and you will also get a bonus this year for sure, so you can tell us what you put that into. The interface (roughly) is: Each game has a live area and a front page. This forum is on the front page. Your pm's attach to your account, not a game. The live area, accessed by the Launch Game button, is currently used for two things - dice rolls are made there and it holds the journal (accessed by the tab icons on top of the chat) The journal is a repository of documents, I can see them all and designate who can see them and edit them. I've seeded it with a few already, including a blank character sheet for Sir Ullin. The other thing I plan to use the live area for is quickfire conversations, however until it is copied and pasted into the forum, it is not canon!
Oh, not experience.  Training is what I meant!  Long week.
Remind me of how squires work in the new system?

They are very customisable. To cut out a lot of text, essentially, we can decide - either when they first are created or during play - that there s something about them that is worth giving attention too - maybe we create a saxon sized squire, maybe during play they just turn out to be really great at working out secrets. In that case we give them a SIZ stat separate form their single squire skill, and later add in an Intrigue stat. That way we can roll against their more unique characteristics instead of the same roll all squires make.
Cool. And how do existing squires improve?
Ok. Squire questions😊 Bean has knightly skills and spear skill. How does this hybrid improve. Can I improve loyalty (lord) And who is their lord for the purpose of these rolls? Also, men at arms? What did we decide?

Also, men at arms? What did we decide?   Spear skill is a knightly skill, so 5 points to distribute - between those two stats and his squire skill also. Passions can't be changed unless roleplay has given reason too, and I don't remember anything - but for that passion, Lord would normally encompass both their homage (Lady Ellen) and their fealties - his knight, his father (if noble), the hierarchy of nobility, the Lords of Britain, whoever leads him in battle etc etc etc. Men at arms, if their weapon skill is below 15, +1 - 15 or higher, roll to see if you can +1
So... The men at arms who followed Hogarth into battle got a crit roll to loyalty, does that mean anything? I wanted to train up a squad of Halberd people. Halberd is the only skill they can have. I was going to make My new sarge and 2 new men at arms halberiers and transfer one of the old spear armed men at arms to halberd skill. What would their halberd skill be?

Ross M said: So... The men at arms who followed Hogarth into battle got a crit roll to loyalty, does that mean anything? Oooh, yes - Sorry, I forgot! We know their Loyalty (Lord) Average is 15 - so critting a roll would be for a knight an automatic +1 - knights however are creatures of their passions, commoners are not. They don't get an automatic +1, but they have earned a roll. I wanted to train up a squad of Halberd people. Halberd is the only skill they can have. I was going to make My new sarge and 2 new men at arms halberiers and transfer one of the old spear armed men at arms to halberd skill. What would their halberd skill be? We gave your man a halbard skill of 9? If so I'm happy for you to make a roll against his skill for the new squad. On a fumble they will start on skill 7 Fail - 8 Pass - 9 Crit - 10
Fails on all those rolls except tutor. Will post here updated sheets for all squires and men at arms To confirm base skill for men at arms was spear 10 and sergeants 15 and loyalty was a flat 15?
Yes that's correct - I can't find anything which gives your men or sergeants anything other than loyalty 15, so I'm not sure why the Book of the Battle words it quite like that. However it does form the basis of letting loyalties improve so I don't consider this a house rule!
Typing up individual summaries for everyone and then will move onto training and glory today.
:)
Training Arnold gets 3+1 skill points, raising spear to 15 and sword to 14 Balen Raises Sword 1 point to 20 Hogarth Raises Battle 1 point to 19 What Glory has Hogarth obtained? I'm assuming from the battle, charging a saxon army whilst suffering madness and taking an arrow, helping to oversee Roderick's funeral and buying three presents for royal court?
As indicated on the battle sheet (23), +60x2 for one turn, +25 funeral, +£ value of your gifts = 171 I think
New Glory 4646 Hogarth 3724 Balen 1834 Arnold
Glory = 2995 (so close!)  So one more point to add - I'll add it to Mace to take it up to 17
Should Hogarth also get half the value of Glory for the Saxons fought in the first battle round?
He got quarter value - Red Hand Guard (16) - down to 8 for attacking with another and then halved again, down to 4 for losing combat against them.
Gareth G. said: Glory = 2995 (so close!)  So one more point to add - I'll add it to Mace to take it up to 17 Ooooh, I forgot I get 100 Glory for being Chivalric! So total Glory 3095. I'll add the extra point to Strength - Taron has bulked up a bit with all extra training he's determined t do.
Oooh, well remembered!
Yes I may have forgotten that last year too but nevermind.
Chivalry bonus is often forgotten!
Training: Sir Ullin adds to his STR +1: now 18 His squire Crendor puts First Aid +3 (now 9) and Battle +3 (now 6) Evenore (wine squire) how do they train again? Sir Cubeth increases CON +1 (now 15) Her squire Nico is 21 so knighted in Silchester Has Merrick's wine squire Tewain (See above) Now I just need to figure out Glory...
Ullin gets the full 1000 for the battle plus 25 for attending the Earls funeral. He gets 48 from his personality, 6 from his holdings and 100 from his chivalry. Total, 1181
Sleepy Will said: 48 from his personality 48??? Wow
Will, what was the Battle Glory for Owain factoring in the extended combat round?
Owain's total for the battle is 189, 41 of which was for his extended turn
Gareth G. said: 48??? Wow 3 stats over 16 isn't all that uncommon once your characters have had a few years play! That's about the point where you start desperately trying to reduce them so you don't have to make daft decisions ;)
Actually...  I came up with 82 points...  It is Traits and Passions at 16 and above added together right?
I forgot passions!
Final Glory Tallies for 495 Owain Glory for 495 Starting Glory - 5017 From Adventures – 214 (189 +25 Earl's Funeral) Traits/Passions – 105 Chivalric - 100 Manor – 8 Final Glory = 5444   Valens Glory for 495 Starting Glory - 2437 From Adventures - 0 Traits/Passions – 32 Conspicuous Expenditure – 1 Final Glory = 2470   Jiam Glory for 495 Starting Glory - 1694 From Adventures - 0 Traits/Passions - 49 Final Glory = 1743
Oh I misread the Glory you get - I thought it was just 1 point for every trait and passion over 16. Not the total of those traits and passions
Does that get you over 3000?
That's me done for Winter (finally - the 'new normal' is somewhat challenging my ability to multitask).
I already went over 3000 with chivalry. But I'll work out how much more I get shortly.
