[LFP][Burning Wheel][Homebrew] Star trek-esque campaign

Hey there! Well, let's get right into it. What the Campaign is about: You, the player, have been assigned as an officer to the Concord, the first collaboratively designed, built, and crewed starship in a newly minted interstellar federation. But before we get ahead of ourselves... What federation? Each player will be responsible for writing up a summary of a civilization, from the beginnings of recorded history up until they made first contact with other sapient life. Once players have their civs fleshed out, I will lead a collaborative world building exercise, with the goal being to form a history between the members and a story of how the federation came into existence. Back to the PCs: Each PC will be a bridge officer on board the Concord, representing their respective governments' interests on the ship. The ship was supposed to be one of several different trial balloons- a compromise between various members attitudes on everything from reactor insulation to the finer points of what a vessel's command structure is supposed to look like- but will rapidly stumble head first into a very important mission; whether diplomatic, militaristic, humanitarian, or something else completely, it will rapidly put the PCs into the pressure cooker, where fun(TM) is bound to occur. The finer points:     We will play using discord voice and roll20     Character creation will not use defaults, players can describe their character and work with me to create a finished product, The goal is to create PCs around four life paths, but there isn't exactly a "grew up on a low warp freighter" or "Washed out of the trill initiate program" lifepath in the base game, nor is there a "stellar navigation" skill.     We will start off with mostly just the hub and spoke rules, and gradually introduce "fight" "firefight" and "duel of wits" into the game to make the learning curve less steep.     Due to my schedule, we will be unable to run games very reliably. Game will generally happen around 0030 UTC, beyond that everything is up in the air. We will try to schedule for times that everyone can play, and the plan is to run every week so that when someone's schedule doesn't fit we can push it back to two weeks without feeling too bad about it.     The game may explore mature topics in a way similar to star trek. This will be handled non-graphically, and I will collect a list of themes from everyone that they do not want poked. How to apply     Be over 18     Don't be a bigot. You know what I mean     Fill out the following questionnaire, and post your copy as a reply.  Player character This will just be a sample, and unbinding. Pretend you're character is onboard the (insert name of starfleet vessel(or bajoran station) here(<---no seriously, please change this text)) for this exercise.  Please briefly describe your character: Please list three beliefs for your character: Please list three instincts for your character: Please list (and describe if necessary) at least three traits for your character(make these up, you don't necessarily have to consult the official traits): Civilization: What sapient species are in this civ? When were they introduced? (for example, the xindi had a, b, c species evolve concurrently on their homeworld. The Romulan Empire integrated Remans after space travel made it practical to do so.)  Describe the dominant mode of production in your civ, and any notable secondary ones: List three cultural traits for the culture your character comes from: And three cultural traits of one notable subculture within the civilization: List three cultural traits for the class your character(if you have a concept yet) is part of: And three cultural traits of another notable class within the civ: Why did your civ reach out into space? Or if they didn't, why do they have regular contact with spacefaring sapients? (if your civ consists of a bunch of sapient species that all only made contact after space travel, feel free to write no, one, or several answers) If you gave a practical answer to the previous question, give an idealistic answer. If you gave an idealistic answer to the previous question, give a practical answer.  The Concord Please write three traits for the Concord: Please write three instincts for the Concord: Character Station Pick a department(preferably one your final PC would like to head, however this answer is nonbinding): Think up an NPC stationed there. Brief description: Relationship with PC: Three Beliefs: Instincts: Traits:
I love the idea. Trying to figure out if the scheduling could work, but... maybe. Sent a PM, and seeing who else might respond. But I'm definitely interested.
I'm digging the concept as well. Are the days available to play currently up in the air? I'm happy to flesh out a federation/species, even if my schedule ends up unable to really mesh with others.
