If you're an epic Dungeon Master looking for a really solid, fun group... read below. A fellowship of four long-tenured fantasy nerds delving into uncharted territory. We have always played within our group, with one of us DMing. We now have a deep yearning to band our forces together for the first time under the guidance of a new GM. Generally people find us to be goofy, easygoing, relatively mature people who like to have fun and not take things too seriously. We have some ideas of characters we might want to play, although we're open to any other possibilities. Looking mostly for 5e, but open to other ideas. We're looking to play once a week, for 2-4 hours in the early evenings (currently we're finishing a campaign playing 4pm-7pm PST on Thursdays). We are open to switching times and days, but that's what works best for us now. Looking for a DM who brings the funk! Someone who's passions involve: *Creating epic worlds with deep, layered mystery and intrigue! *Stimulating frontal lobes, adrenal glands & funny bones... *Working with players with animated vigor for optimum fun! Does this sound like you? Leave us a message below describing who you are and what you’re about. Thanks for your interest in joining us in this adventure! Introductions: Jake: I’ve been playing D&D for about 20 years (I’m 32) and still love to set aside the real world for goofing around in the forgotten realms. I am a huge lover of RPGs, fantasy novels, and get a ton of role playing/world building inspiration from cats like Brandon Sanderson, Glen Cook, and Joe Abercrombie. Hoping to find more fun, positive, and good humored folks to join up with. Solid grasp of 5e, new to Roll20 and stoked to get the hang of it while we’re all on lockdown. I have a couple character ideas somewhat worked out that I’d like to try. 1. (Old) Human Warlock with the Fiend Pact. He has a classic doddering old man vibe but occasionally is possessed/influenced by an arch demon who makes him do gnarly stuff in conflict with his normally good nature. 2. A Dragonborn Paladin (sometimes comically) obsessed with his 2 handed greatsword that was handed down through his clan for generations. The clan was wiped out and he has sworn an oath of vengeance on the murderous (insert relevant entity/person here). Sam: I have been playing D&D off and on with these guys over the past 7 or 8 years. They have been playing since childhood but invited me to join their group because I am a lover of fantasy and far off places. Growing up I was most taken with the works of Tolkien and his mythical universe, particularly the Silmarillion. I am drawn to creation and origin stories, loving all things epic, profound, dramatic, conflicting, contradicting, paradoxical, magical, and thought provoking. Having a well thought out container to laugh and play with my friends consistently is ideal. One of my favorite characters to play was an elven druid for many reasons, especially having the ability to summon and communicate with animals. They largely became the muscle of the group in our earlier levels, though the role was later attributed to my mountain lion animal companion who could really mawl some damage. My current role is a Tabaxi barbarian so I can’t help but notice that I find comedic relief in being the lady and brute of the group. Steven: I’ve been playing tabletop games and computer RPGs for 20 years or so. I’ve got a good grasp on the 5e ruleset, but I think the rules are for giving a foundation for fun and can be bent or broken if the situation calls for it. I like campaigns with dungeons full of puzzles and mysteries as opposed to traps and enemies. I like to play characters with flaws in some way or another, ideally baked into the character’s stats, but personality flaws work as well. I like to roleplay in character as much as possible to the best of my abilities but it can be difficult at times. I usually have a couple character concepts floating around, but the character I’ve been trying to create for ages, unsuccessfully, is based off of Rincewind from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series: A wizard who isn’t actually good at being a wizard but somehow succeeds despite themselves through some combination of sheer force of luck, blind incompetence, and pure cowardice. Ian: Race: Human, 35 Class: Holistic Druid, Smuggler Alignment: Chaotic Good Str: 13 Dex: 11 Con: 15 Int: 14 Wis: 14 Cha: 17 Fantasy has been a big part of my life since I was little. My parents read The Hobbit & LOTR series to me before I could read and ever since I’ve been hooked. I started playing D&D about 20 years ago, goofing off with Jake mostly, and started playing with Sam & Steve in 2012. I love being animated, in flow and creative. Moving through a campaign that encourages rich, imaginative back story by incorporating it in the process is something I love. Something beautiful happens when there is fruitful co-creation between the DM & the players in a way that supports fun for all. I’ve had a dream for a while about creating an Addict Alchemist. A mad scientist who tests his own concoctions on himself for better or for worse. After surviving decades of this form of self-abuse, his ability to withstand the onslaught of chemicals has left him with a superhuman willpower, a thorough intimate knowledge of chemistry, and a myriad of addictions that must be sustained to hold back the pain. There is also a savage, uncontrollable thirst for vengeance for the man who did this to him. An evil bastard that took him in as a child and used him as an experimental test subject for years under the guise of mentorship, tutelage and false love.
