I’m looking for three players to join me and our fourth player for a text-only game played via Discord and Roll20 . Avrae may be used as well for any roleplaying outside of normal session times that requires rolls. The game will be played over text but will take place while everyone is online in sessions that will likely last 4-6 hours once a week, but can go longer or shorter depending on player preference and availability. The reason for the text-based live game is that I tend to collect my thoughts and share them better when I have a bit of time to think before posting versus coming up with things on the fly verbally. So, for those of you with similar thought processes, those without a mic, or simply those who just don’t like to talk out loud—this game might very well be for you! This game will also be very beginner-friendly as I myself have only been playing D&D for a little over a year and DM’ing for only half of that time. If you’re looking to learn the ropes, I’d be more than happy to teach you! I know that with current world events a lot of folk have been taking to Roll20 to look for games and as much as I love to see more people get involved in the wonderful world of D&D, know that I am also looking for people willing and able to commit a bit of time to this campaign. Please do not apply if there is a good chance that you will need to dip out of the campaign due to schedule changes or that you will no longer be able to commit to a session once a week. Below is a summary of the premise as well as a link to a page with the world lore for y’all’s perusal. Think RWBY in a D&D setting with a dash of FFX and probably other bits and pieces shamelessly taken from other fantasy media. Please see below and if this looks like the game for you, fill out the application form at the bottom! You can send it to me via pm on here or reply to this post. I’ll close this post in 24-48 hours depending on how many applications I get. If there is no post from me stating that this post is closed then I’m still taking applications! Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wzBSX2kJAxMO20TfS5_Sft8-aECBiUPBS7Agg1TZp0Y/edit?usp=sharing The Premise Etheria is a land filled with promise and potential. Crafted by the four gods, the realm had long experienced peace and prosperity with few significant bloody conflicts. However, this changed when the dark god, Felgrimm, came to Etheria, seeking to blot out the fragile life that blossomed within it and corrupt it into his own twisted creations. Felgrimm’s power spreads in a phenomenon known as the blight, infesting and transforming the bodies and souls of the dead into horrific monsters that seek only to take life and spawn more blighted. The only known way to prevent the fallen from being corrupted by the blight is by performing rites only made possible by the blessings of the four gods, shielding the body from corruption and safeguarding the soul’s return to the natural flow of life and death. For this reason, clerics of the four gods are highly sought-after for their ability to defend against the blight and the Faith of the Four Gods is the largest entity in Etheria, reaching across the entire realm and established in most every settlement. The other major organization in Etheria is the Vanguard, a group dedicated to defeating Felgrimm’s forces and keeping the blight contained in the Darklands--the source of the blight that is sealed away by four temples that concentrate the gods’ power to keep Felgrimm and his plague from breaking free. Despite the Vanguard’s best efforts, some strains of the blight do escape from the Darklands and members of the Vanguard are tasked with hunting down the blighted and protecting the people of Etheria from them. The party consists of new members of the Vanguard, each joining for their own reason but united under a common cause--to slay the blighted and protect the people of Etheria ...With that out of the way, I do have a few expectations for my players. Please be... LGBTQ+ friendly Hate and negativity accomplish nothing for anyone, but this sort of bigotry will especially not be tolerated here. Respectful, to me, to your fellow players, and to yourself D&D is a team effort and your actions can and do affect the other players and your DM. We may be in this for the long haul, so let's make this experience an enjoyable one! Honest As a new DM, I welcome constructive criticism and am always looking for new ways to improve the way I run the game. If you're not having fun, please, please, please tell me. We'll work together to fix what you dislike and if it turns out that this game is not your cup of tea, then please don't feel obligated to stay if you're not enjoying yourself. I don't want to waste your time and I don't believe in holding grudges, so communication is key! A decent writer I’m not looking for the next Shakespeare but preference will be given to those who can write in cohesive sentences. I’m not going to correct your spelling/grammar/punctuation and I’m not expecting each post to be ten thousand words, but I am looking for someone who at least knows the difference between ‘their’, there’, and ‘they’re’. ...And now, for the part you've all been waiting for! Application What drew you to my game? What timezone are you in and when are you available? How much experience do you have with DnD? What's a good ratio of story/roleplay to combat for you?
