There is a problem with nesting macros in roll20. When you run a macro, roll20 expands the contents of the macro into the master macro, then tries to run it. Certain characters are important to the query - commas, |, and } characters. If any of the linked macros contain such characters, they will break the query, and cause the issue you are seeing. The best way to handle this problem is to abandon nested macros , and use Chat Menus instead: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/5927072/" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/5927072/</a> . If you want to try to use a nested macro, you'll have to edit the individual macros, replacing certain characters with html entities as described here: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros#Advanced_Usage_for_Roll_Queries" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Macros#Advanced_Usage_for_Roll_Queries</a> I don't recommend it. But if you do, the imporytant number one thing people overlook: never every replace the | } characters inside an attribute call. If you have a call like @{strength} or @{frodo|strength}, leave those well alone. Dont change them at all. But other | and } characters will need to be changed.
