Control+L works when I'm a GM, but the entire map is lit up if I enter as a player

I have Advanced Fog of War enabled as well as Dynamic Lighting (Global Illumination not checked). My character token emits light, all players see light, and hanr sight.  Also, the token reveals distance for Advanced Fog of War.  I have Advanced Dynamic Lighting turned off. When I'm the GM, I can click on my character, hit Ctrl+L, and I'll get the light scene I expect.  A certain part of the map is revealed based upon the Advanced Fog of War, and certain NPCs are revealed based upon the lighting settings.  However, the remainder of the map is not visible by the player. However, when a re-join as a player, the entire map is lit up (i.e., inconsistent with that Ctrl+L shows).  I've tried different browsers (Chrome & Firefox) as well as changing various settings.
Do you control other tokens that have sight? When logged in as a player, you will be able to see from all of them at once, even if they are NPCs or don't have character sheets.
Thank you for the help.  I did have NPCs under my control.  However, I had turned off sight on all of them.  Regardless, when I removed my control of these NPCs everything works they way it should.  Thanks again!!
