i as the dm of my campaign cant edit anything that is already placed down or drawn on the map i am relatively new so it might be a user error but it is annoying

Make sure you are logged into the game as the GM (check sidebar My Settings tab) and check that you are on the correct layer(map/background, objects/token, gm overlay, etc.) to edit.  (change layers using the toolbar) and you have the Selection tool enabled.
