The Setting: Set in the
year 455AC, Ignavius Scotarus, Lord and self-proclaimed King of Lorkan,
conspires to overthrow the reigning King of Theades and set about a new way of
life for its denizens. Using the riches mined from the mountains surrounding
Lorkan, the faux-King has been able to persuade neighbouring Lords and Ladies
to rally his cause and increase Lorkan's military might. The city prospers more
than ever, its people satisfied and loyal, and its political position in Theades
on the rise. In the North,
the town of Wilvadoor hosts a variety of unsavoury sorts. From pirates to
smugglers, mercenaries and privateers, the port acts as a den those who hold no
allegiance to any but themselves. No one dare speak it aloud, but rumour has it
that the true governing entity of Wilvadoor is a guild of criminals that
operates the town’s port. Although the town’s reputation is tarnished by years
of wrongdoing, the ruling Lady has vowed to end the corruption running rampant
in the city. To the East
is the city of Steindoor. Great fleets have been seen amassing for an unknown
reason. Stories come from travellers about an overwhelming military presence,
unseen in the southern parts of Theades in over a century, gathering within the
city proper. Its citizens afraid and left to the demands of Admirals and
Generals, social unrest is on the rise. Further
Northeast, a once-proud city of merchants and artisans is under threat by a dark
force laying claim over the Hollowoods, a dense and dying forest surrounding
the city proper. Refugees into Lorkan speak of strange shrieking into the late
hours of night, missing peoples, and otherworldly lights appearing behind the
forest edge. Meanwhile, overlooking
the city of Lorkan, in a citadel buttressed within the mountains, an Order of
Holy Warriors and Priests sit idle, unwilling to get involved in the political
turmoil rising in Lorkan.
Unbeknownst to our fellow adventurers, their fates are
entwined, and their futures are directly connected to that of Theades. While
enjoying a much-deserved respite from their solitary travels at The Canary's
Companion, a well-known resting place for travellers into Lorkan, the
individuals encounter something unexpected. The other stuff: Greetings, The name is Lorvain and I'm a relatively new Dungeon Master. I have plenty of experience as a player, but I'm looking to start a fresh campaign of my own. As it stands, there are two people ready to commit and I'm hoping to have another two/three players join in. I'm pretty easy going and understanding, so I expect the same from players. The sessions will likely be held on weekends, more than likely on a Sunday afternoon (AEST) but this is open to change with the player's needs. The game is open to any applications, so feel free to reply with your interest. Be sure to add whatever ideas you have for a character or just ask whatever questions strike. There is a Discord server for those that are particularly interested, which I will provide upon request. I also have a PDF with information that you will need. Lastly, there isn't going to be a heavy focus on one thing or another, meaning combat and roleplay will come as it makes sense for each. Roleplay is always welcome because I love that shit, but I also froth making battle maps and wicked good engagements for players. So, get involved, swing me a message, reply with whatever you see fit, ask your questions, and smile wide and laugh loud!
