To be honest, I am glad players can't just add whatever tokens they want to my games. In games that use field of view, I run top down figure tokens, and almost all of them are by the same artist, keeping all tokens of the same style. In games that don't use field of view, I am likely to stick with a certain theme on token frames for the group. In that case, I allow players to send me art they would like made into their character token, or allow them to create the token themselves if they are willing and able to do so. Then they send me the token and I upload and assign it. Either way, I can be sure that whatever is being added fits whatever theme I am using for the tokens. In a current game, one of my players is wanting to use disguise a lot and have set personas that his character will use. His (rollable table) token has 12 images all specified by him with token frames set by me. I don't think this has limited his creativity at all, while still allowing me to know exactly what is being added to my game.
