Not looking for a game but rather for advice

For a little background, Im 13 and have wanted to get into DnD for a long time. I don't think I have a chance of joining a game on here, atleast for a while, instead I want to hear any suggestions on how to join into this community. I don't know how much anybody could be able to help me but I really want to get into Dnd and im kind of running out of ideas. Anyway thanks for reading.

The best way to get into dnd5e is to get into dnd.  Get into a game and start somewhere.  I have a game you can join on saturdays if you're interested

I mean I would be, but I just don't want to intrude on other player's experiences with the game. I would only join if everybody is okay with it, want to make sure no one loses anything by me joining

Hey, kid... Here's my advice. When someone offers you the chance to join their game, just smile and say "Thanks, I'd love to." ;-) He wouldn't have invited you if he didn't mean it.  Just relax and have fun. Most DMs love introducing new players to the game. And welcome to D&D, Juice.  Enjoy your adventure!

I second Roy, most of us old farts love helping new ppl join the game. hope you have lots of fun learning and playing. Last thing always remember its a game for fun.

Yep, your age doesn't prevent you from playing; although you're right that it limits the number of games you might be able to get into (if they're labeled "mature.")  Another idea: if you have any friends, family, or classmates that are interested in trying it out, it can also help if you create a post with a title like "group of 4 newbies seeks a DM for x."

I don't know if you've tried a search yet, but under Games/Join a Game you can specifically search for "games that welcome new players."

When the quarantine lifts, see if you can find a local gaming shop that runs games.  Many of them (like the shop I frequent here in Houston) have tables dedicated for younger players. In the meantime, join any game that "welcomes new players".  The understanding is that new means not only new to the game system, but new to gaming in general.   Finally, don't let your first game or your first DM define your experience.  Each table, each DM, each SESSION is different and you'll have good and bad experiences.  Also, try different game systems.  D&D may be your cup of tea, or it may not.  You may be more of a Starfinder guy.  Or a Shadowrunner.  Or a Scum and Villainy.

Absolutely this. There are all sorts of game types out there and playing styles to suit every taste. Try watching a few streams to see how much variety there is, but don't expect your GM to be as good as what you can see out there. The best experience is to try a few and see what / who gels for you. If the first one you try doesn't suit you, don't let it put you off. I started DMing a game here something close to 4 years ago and a lot of players came and went, because our styles and tastes weren't compatible. But now I've had the same core group for 3 years and I would die before I let the group split. I hope you find what you're looking for, Juice. Best of luck.

Though it may be intimidating at this stage, if you've watched some real play videos or listened to some real play podcasts and think you have a decent grasp of D&D rules or whatever RPG suits you, you could try GMing a game.  I've found that's a great way to meet folks on Roll20 and find players similar in tastes to you.  Many GMs are hungry to be a player, so you could find that if you GM just a one shot or brief campaign that could open doors for you and one of your players may invite you to their game. Also, if you apply for a game, be sure to read the instructions carefully and follow them.  With so many players wanting to get into a game, GMs can be very selective, so don't disqualify yourself by not following directions.  Try to find a game that matches what you want to participate in as far as the GM's style, type of players being looked for, more about story, more about combat, etc.  Be honest in your application too and try to apply to games as soon as possible.  You have a better shot typically of getting in if you are among the first to apply.  I recommend browsing this forum and using the Join a Game Roll20 tool at least once a day.  If you see a game you like and it has been posted recently, jump on applying.
