Lost information between token and journal entry

Hi, i saw a couple of similar issues but mine seems slightly different and existing solutions don't work. Here's what's going on. - i upload some custom token YY - i move the custom token inside a folder where i arrange my uploads, so YY is no longer in the root directory for uploads but under "tokens/YY" - i take some monster XX from the compendium, i drag it in the map, it creates an entry in the journal called XX - i take journal entry XX and i change its predefined token to be YY - i drag journal entry XX from the journal again on the map and:  1) this creates a new token YY, as expected 2) when i click on the new token YY, it does not open the XX journal entry, none of the fields of the token are initialised it's just "generic token" Note that if i don't change the default token, when dragging XX it creates the XX default token and when i click on that default token it opens the XX journal entry. This has also happened for characters whose token were uploaded by me: now when the players drag their character sheets, the right token is created but it does not retain a link to the character sheet. == tentative fixes I tried erasing the tokens and re-uploading them and re-creating the binding token-journal but it still does not work. == Question How do i regain normal functionality, i.e., avoid point 2 and instead when i click on new token YY, entry XX is opened ?

Before setting your YY token to the XX sheet, did you create any of the token settings?  Especially the "Represents" field should have the name of the XX sheet assigned to it.
Ah, i see. No, i did not set those fields beforehand, i thought that setting a token as the default for an entry would do that for me (i.e., i tell what art to use, it fills the fields of the token automatically, at least for the represents part). Thanks for the clarification, it now works :)

Let's say you have a character that has a lot of attributes that need tracked (may be more likely in a system that isn't D&D).  You have the most used resources linked to your character sheet on the default token.  Let's say it has health, armor rating, and armor durability.  Now, let's say your character also needs to track spells per day and psychic energy.  You create another character token and have it represent the same character of your main token, so that you can assign those 2 stats to bars.  But now you create a new sheet that has no stats labeled [Insert character name here]'s Resources.  Set the resource token as the default for that sheet.  Now, when you need to track those resources (and don't want to open your sheet to do so), you drag that token out to the VTT and can alter those resources in the resource token bars which are linked to your main character sheet.  Basically, having default token on the sheet and the token represent setting separate make stuff like that possible.
That's clever, crafty and definitively something i'll have to remember, thanks!
