How Does Features and Traits effect items?

I'm kinda confused about how I should use my feature and traits and whether or not they are already affecting my Items and skills automatically on my rolls. For example, I have a ranger hunter as an OC and I currently have a trait called "Fighting Style: Archery" and have a longbow. So the trait should affect the longbow, but does it do that automatically or should I add it to the Attack "dex + x + proficiency" or Damage "1d8 + dex + x" on the item itself on spells and attacks?

Fighting style adjustments need to be made manually, either to attacks, or as global hit/damage modifiers that can be turned on and off as needed. If you don't see the global fields on your sheet, they can be activated on the settings tab of the sheet.
