[LFG] [LFP] [LFDM] [Free] [D&D][5e] [Fri or Sat] [6ish-10ish] [EST] Looking to form a group of cooperative and supportive players with a couple of rotating DMs.

I am reaching out in hopes of assembling a group of 4-6 like-minded player/DMs for long-term campaigning, role playing, and epic adventuring! Ideally, 2-3+ of us would take turns DMing quality, player-driven, D&D5e games (each of us taking a turn running a game or campaign for the others). Perhaps, 1 DM can run their game for a few weeks, then another DM can run theirs for a few weeks to help keep everyone playing (and fresh!). I would have the requirement that at least 1 of the main games be from official content (I have a few if it helps). What I’m looking for: · Cooperative, interactive, and supportive players; willing to DM at some point in the future. · Group members who seek to facilitate connections with each other. · Group Members who appreciate your supportive play and your hard work prepping the game. · Games with a decent mix RP and tactical combat. Some games and DMs allow for more than others. · Groups that can goof around and have fun while being able to get serious and take it to task when needed. · Games that include character backstories woven into the story, custom player handouts, cool battle maps, and killer soundtracks. · S tory-driven campaigns, with a mix of tactical combat and role-playing, where your actions (or inaction) impact the living world around you. · A flexible group that considers both player and DM input as to what and how, we play. *Group members have equal voice, The DM has final say in all matters during (their) game play. *Due to the potential variability in the game play, those interested should be somewhat flexible in their play style. Time: Friday or Saturday 6pm Eastern Standard Time Discord for voice communication *If you are interested, drop a note below or send me a message.

I had stepped away from gaming for several years, and a couple years ago I started playing (tabletop) again with a few friends…until the game was called on account of life (jobs, moving, etc.). So, here I am…on the virtual tabletop…let’s give it a try. One of the biggest issues I have found here is finding a consistent, friendly group, that includes multiple DMs, that can last for the long term. This is the challenge… I have about 15 years (plus) of TTRPG gaming experience, primarily with earlier versions of D&D, where I have mostly acted as a DM. For the last three years or so, I have served as the primary DM for a group on Roll20. I usually like for the PCs to take a little time playing through the adventure to help allow for PC growth, newly created story arcs, and role-play that might not have been highlighted in a scripted setting. I tend to run a challenging game, so players who know the importance of planning, strategy, and knowing thine enemy will prosper. I spend a good amount of effort and energy setting up encounters, storylines, handouts, and custom-themed soundtracks. What I expect from party members : To be respectful of each other, have a cooperative and supportive play style, to know your character, to contribute to the group experience, and to make a genuine effort to be on time and not be a “No Show”. I am not interested in rules lawyers, large egos, or argumentative people -- don’t be a d*ck. What I expect from a (seasoned) DM : Someone knowledgeable & engaging, who works to maintain a good game balance, with the ability to adjust in-flow and highlight each player. The DM has the right to alter what they see fit but do so with the immense responsibility of honoring the sacred trust of the players while maintaining balance; and do so mindfully, with great care.
Hi, I've been playing for over 40 years (since red box set), but 8pm would be the earliest I could make. If that works, let me know.
I would be interested in this group as a player. I have not played D&D since 1992, so I'd be approaching as a new player (relatively speaking). I do have the Player's Handbook and Xanathar's Guide to Everything, so I've been reading up here and there. I am on EST, so the proposed time wouldn't be an issue. I am just eager to get into a good group of folks. Thank you for your consideration.
Zaodon, Thank you for your interest in the post. Starting at 8pm EST could work provided that it works for the rest of the group as well. We might have to stop between 11-12am, that's when the brain starts turning into applesauce, so that would likely mean a 3-4hr game. I also sent you a message.
Columbia, here is the only 5e Site you'll ever need: https://5e.tools/ :) -Z
Zaodon, awesome! Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, that is a good resource.
Columbia_Knight, Thanks for your interest. I'll keep you posted as this process develops and we can continue to chat in the meantime. ~Sherlock
I am interested. I saw you on another post for a father son posting (that I can't find now).
If you're okay with taking on a newbie, I would definitely be interested in joining. DnD has been something that I've wanted to play for some time now, but I never knew how to go about getting into a group. Someone recommended this site to me after I played my first one shot yesterday, so I'm looking to try and get involved in a more frequent game.
WorldWarSam, Possibly...I'd say it depends on how many matching Player/DMs there are. Keep in touch and stay posted to find out more. Feel free to message me any questions that you have.
Hey there, Sherlock. Lifelong RPG'er, looking for an on-the-regular, long-term group - check my profile out if you like. My gaming group has gone under - the DM is burnt after 10+ yrs, and he was not into remote-play - and I'm pining for a new home. My DM experience is pretty much from my teens - done some for family & friends as an adult with Basic Fantasy rules, but probably pretty weak-sauce for an experienced group. I am CST, but your time schedules look good for me (we used to play bi-weekly on Fri @ 7, so it's close). Anyhow, buzz me if you're interested.
Ratty B, Thanks for checking it out. I will take a look at your profile/bio and send you a message. ~Sherlock
Hey Folks- While we have gotten a fair amount of interest from Players, we still need some DMs to run the show. As such, I will keep this ad up in the hopes of recruiting one or two DMs. In case it was not clear, I am looking for 1-3 DMs (I am one) who are willing to rotate out, round robin style, taking a turn running an adventure or campaign for the party. This way, everyone gets to play and no one is stuck being the forever DM (I am one of those as well). ~Sherlock
I live in CST timezone and am available to play everyday excluding Wednesday and Sunday's. Dungeons and Dragons are 5th edition, if anyone has a slot open in their Roll20, or Fantasy Grounds Unity, or Foundry or Astral : Virtual Tabletop Game.
Hey Folks, I wanted to touch base and let you know that while we have had sufficient interest from Players to form a group. we are still short DMs willing to run games for each other. Therefore, I am going to post another ad with more of a focus on recruiting Players that would also be willing to DM. I suspect that it may take a week or two to find a couple of candidates, and if I am successful, I may reach out to a few of you. Take Care. ~Sherlock
If you're still open to more players I'd be interested in joining your group. I have several years of experience playing DnD, but most of it is from 2E and 3E years ago. I've only got about 6 months of experience with 5E and I'm pretty much a complete newbie when it comes to Roll20. I had a game of 5E going with some people at my local game shop but it got put on indefinite hiatus because of the COVID, like pretty much everything else. I'm available during the week anytime after 5pm cst and I have every weekend off as well.
Mordaem, Thanks for the response. I will make of note of your interest. ~Sherlock
I have been playing 5e since 2014 including Brick & Mortar AL, a MagCon, and home games with friends. Previously I played AD&D decades ago. Currently I alternate as DM/Player 2 campaigns with another DM every Saturday night CDT right here on Roll20. Most of us are local but have switched to Roll20 due to the pandemic. I am open to playing/dming on Friday nights after 5:00 p.m. so a 6:00 p.m. CDT start would work for me. The alternating DM/Player dynamic would seem to suit me as that is currently what I am doing. My play style is multiple (at least I like to think so) and feel I could adapt to most groups depending on group need. As a DM I like to err on the side of the players unless official rules dictate otherwise specifically. I like to run official WotC adventures or DMs Guild content with personal modifications as I feel will enhance the given campaign. I have also begged, borrowed, and probably stolen a lot of ideas from the web. My personal library of campaigns/ideas is not lacking since 5E came out. As a player I can be the tank, healer, buffer, glass cannon, etc. There are multiple PC types that are exciting to me. Feel free to shoot me a PM if any of this is interesting to you.
PM sent.

*Update* There are three prospective DMs who will be meeting tonight (Wednesday 7/29), for a sort of DM's Session Zero. If all is well we will start bringing in players soon, perhaps with a slight preference for those who may want to DM one day. All Players that have a cooperative, supportive play-style would be welcome, especially if you contribute towards the group. If the stars align, the first game (TBD) will be Friday 8/7 at 7 or 8pm (TBD). Thanks for your interest. ~Sherlock
Send me a message and I'll try to make tonight's Wednesday meeting. I'd prefer Wednesday or Saturday evenings to play since I'm already in a Friday evening game. I should be available 7 CST.
If your still looking for people I'm very intrested in joining your group since I mainly DM for most of my own group and love the idea of switching between campaigns. I have about 7 months of experience with 5e DnD and love getting to know new people. I also always available 6pm Friday and Saturday night and am EST.
